Nick Kyrgios has offered to share his tennis skills with Kate Middleton after the Duchess of Cambridge made a comeback to Wimbledon on Sunday.
Kate, a 42-year-old woman taking a break from her public royal duties due to cancer treatment, went to the All England Tennis Club to watch the Spanish champion Carlos Alcaraz compete against Novak Djokovic in the men's singles final.
Kate, a regular at the famous club in South West London, is a big tennis enthusiast. She was welcomed warmly by the spectators on Centre Court during just her second public appearance since her surprising diagnosis.
Australian tennis player Kyrgios, famous for his unconventional behavior on the tennis court, was working as a pundit for the BBC during the Grand Slam final. He expressed his happiness at seeing Kate in the Royal Box.
He also seized the chance to propose to the Princess of Wales that he could be her coach, stating that he would bring more excitement to tennis compared to the Swiss champion Roger Federer, whom Kate has consulted for coaching in the past.
"Perhaps I'm a bit unpredictable... but, you know, I have plenty of free time right now so I would be willing to coach [Kate Middleton]," Kyrgios mentioned on BBC Sport.
Learning from me will be a more enjoyable experience than being coached by [Roger] Federer!
Kyrgios has been out of action for more than a year due to injuries to his knee and wrist. However, supporters are optimistic that the energetic Australian player will make a comeback to professional men's tennis during the hard court season in the United States.
Nick Kyrgios has volunteered to give tennis lessons to the enthusiastic Kate Middleton.
Princess Diana was in the special area for important guests at the men's singles final on Sunday.
In the past, she has received advice on tennis from the well-known Swiss tennis player, Roger Federer.
Djokovic has been spotted training with his close tennis friend during the tournaments this summer, and shared an important update on Kyrgios's health after defeating Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-finals.
I remember a few days ago during practice, specifically on Thursday, when he hit a great serve. He mentioned, 'I might make a comeback at the US Open,' but I'm not sure if he was being serious or joking. Djokovic recounted.
Let me tell you, he is still playing tennis at a high level. He is incredibly talented and skilled on the court.
I believe he mentioned that his wrist is bothering him the most when he serves, but he has been ramping up the amount of practice and the level of effort and speed.
"He is not quite hitting the ball as hard or as fast as he can, but he is getting very close. He is almost there."
