Actress Millie Bobby Brown has shared how her future husband, Jake Bongiovi, has played a significant role in helping her come to terms with herself and embrace self-love.

During a conversation with Glamour magazine, the star of Enola Holmes acknowledged the emerging singer for aiding her in accepting the parts of herself she didn't appreciate or acknowledge. Brown shared that Bongiovi allowed her to be her true and authentic self, a relief to Brown who has experienced a lot of public criticism since she became famous as Eleven, from Stranger Things, at such a young age.

She told the publication that when she encountered Jake, she sensed that she had the liberty to express herself loudly. He accepted and motivated her to do so. As a result, she started to admire herself while she was with him.

Sometimes, Brown admits that she has a hard time feeling confident, and because of this, she doesn't always believe that Jake truly loves her. Deep inside, she believes that she may be giving him too much to handle. "I questioned Jake's love for me," Brown confessed. "I couldn't understand why he cared. But he listed all the things that I don't like about myself and I was surprised when he said he saw good in those things. He assured me that he loves me, and I believed him."

She went on to say: "These are aspects of myself that I have grown to appreciate tremendously. He played a prominent role in my journey towards self-love and womanhood. I came to the realization that I truly adored him because he enabled me to cherish myself."

Brown has faced challenges on her path towards accepting and loving herself. In the interview, she openly shared that that particular day had been tough since she had a large pimple on her face. She also mentioned the struggle of seeing other girls on Instagram who appeared to be flawless and beautiful, feeling inadequate as a result.

Without a doubt, she mentioned, she will end up crying because she is aware that she doesn't resemble that person.

The actor's self-confidence has been affected not only by social media but also by previous relationships. During an interview, she talked about experiencing a negative situation before her relationship with Bongiovi. This appeared to refer to her previous relationship with Hunter Ecimovic, who used to be a well-known personality on TikTok.

In 2022, Brown disclosed to Allure that she felt weak and embarrassed when Ecimovic made inappropriate comments about her during their Instagram Live session. He also stated that he had "groomed" her beforehand.

After facing difficulties in her relationship with Ecimovic, she encountered Bongiovi and he transformed her outlook towards relationships. The actress had always hesitated to assert herself in relationships and had fears of occupying space, but that changed when she met Bongiovi. She says, "I was scared to display my strength as a woman in a relationship."

Brown stated that the incredible strength of the bond she experienced with Bongiovi was "weird" and distinctly unlike anything she had ever encountered previously.

She expressed her desire to emulate the admirable qualities of her mother and grandmother, but being a wife was not necessarily her goal. However, upon meeting Jake, she realized that she didn't have to fit into the traditional roles of a "wife" and that he didn't want her to either. Instead, he encouraged her to pursue her own passions and dreams while offering support along the way. This made her realize that she did, in fact, want a partnership like this.

Brown, an actor aged 19, and Bongiovi, who is 20 and the son of rock artist Jon Bon Jovi, declared their commitment to each other in April 2023. Brown posted a black-and-white image on Instagram alongside Bongiovi in which she appeared to be wearing an engagement ring on her left ring finger. Brown accompanied the photo with lyrics from Taylor Swift's song, "Lover".

She penned a message expressing her affection, stating that she has been fond of the recipient for three consecutive years. She then requested for the recipient's presence during all those years. A love-heart symbol was attached to the message as well.

Two months later, the couple celebrated their engagement with a private party. During the event, they took photos in front of heart-shaped white balloons and a light-up sign with the words: "Mr & Mrs Bongiovi".
