Manchester Airport: Police filmed stamping and kicking man's head

Manchester Airport

A video recorded a policeman kicking and stomping on the head of a man who was laying on the ground at Manchester Airport.

In the video circulating on the internet, a police officer in uniform is shown holding a Taser over a man who is lying on the ground. The officer then uses the Taser on the man twice as other officers yell at bystanders to keep their distance.

The police in Greater Manchester said that officers carrying firearms were assaulted while trying to apprehend an individual after a physical altercation in Terminal 2 of the airport on Tuesday.

The police department stated that it recognizes the issues raised in the video and is currently investigating the matter through its internal affairs department.

Gun-carrying police were sent to the airport following reports of a fight among civilians, according to a statement from a police representative.

Three law enforcement officers were knocked to the ground in a brutal attack when they tried to apprehend one of the suspects, he explained.

Because the officers present were armed, there was a significant danger that their guns could be taken during the attack.

Four individuals were taken into custody at the location for causing a disturbance and attacking first responders.

Three police officers had to go to the hospital to get medical help, and one of them had a broken nose.

Amar Minhas from Leeds was walking towards the arrival gate when he witnessed the unfolding event.

In an interview with the BBC, he mentioned that the police had spoken to a young man in his early twenties, informing him that he was wanted. The police then proceeded to corner him against a wall.

Then another man got into a confrontation with the police and a physical altercation broke out, he explained.

The guy who was trapped against the wall began to fight back by throwing punches, but he was eventually subdued with a Taser and ended up falling to the ground, according to Mr. Minhas.

"That's when the officer physically struck him."
