Chaos and extended lines persisted at Manchester Airport following a significant power outage that forced all flights from two terminals to be cancelled.

The airport released a statement Monday morning stating that flights were back to normal and advised travelers to get ready for their trips as they normally would.

However, many people were still impacted on Monday morning, with some still awaiting different flights while others who were able to depart discovered that their luggage had not been loaded onto the aircraft.

Some tourists were expressing dissatisfaction with the lengthy lines for checking in their luggage and quite a few flights were still running behind schedule.

Sian Hopwood, who is from Lancashire, had her flight to Kefalonia in Greece cancelled on Sunday. She planned to try again on Monday.

"Yesterday demonstrated how outdated this airport is," Ms. Hopwood stated in an interview with Sky News.

We were supposed to take a flight from Manchester at 6am, but it got postponed. We woke up at 2.30am and arrived at the airport at 4am, only to discover the delay. We had to make a new booking.

Our daughter is coming on the trip with us, but she has already left for Leeds Bradford airport to depart.

Many flights canceled

The electricity cut, which affected systems at the beginning of Sunday, resulted in approximately 70 flights being canceled for departure and 50 flights being canceled for arrival, as reported by aviation data company Cirium.

There were no more flights available at two out of the three terminals for many hours. This led to long lines and the baggage systems not working properly.

Jet2.com sent a message to passengers informing them that some flights left with either fewer or no luggage because the baggage system was not working during the outage.

It could take a while for passengers to retrieve their luggage, according to the article.

The disturbance caused several incoming flights to be sent to different airports.

One flight from Houston, Texas to Singapore Airlines was redirected to Heathrow, while another flight from Singapore landed at Gatwick.

A plane from Etihad Airways that was originally headed to Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport had to make an unexpected landing at Birmingham Airport.

A traveler named Hayden Lewis shared that his trip to Skiathos, a Greek island, was called off after spending approximately five hours at the airport.

He then traveled to Birmingham Airport with a ride from his father and was optimistic about reaching his final destination.

"We are currently in Birmingham because my father picked us up from Manchester and brought us here," Mr. Lewis informed Sky News during an interview on Sunday.

All because easyJet is unsure about when they can book our return flight but they are asking us to continue monitoring the app, along with many other passengers.

Chris Woodroofe, the director in charge of Manchester Airport, said sorry for the confusion and mentioned that a review will be conducted to find out what went wrong.

The airport announced on Monday that it is expected to be a bit more crowded than usual because of passengers impacted by yesterday's flight cancellations. However, they assured that they have deployed additional staff and their resilience team is lending a hand to manage the situation.
