Mohamed Salah returning to Liverpool but could head back for Afcon semis

Liverpool

Mohamed Salah is getting ready to go back to Liverpool so he can get better from his muscle injury. However, if Egypt gets to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, he might go back to the tournament.

Klopp's team managed to secure a 4-0 victory against Bournemouth, gaining a five-point lead in the Premier League standings, even without the presence of Salah. This achievement was made possible by the impressive performance of Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota, who each scored two goals in the second half.

On Thursday, Salah got injured during Egypt's match with Ghana, and he had to exit the field limping. As a result, he won't be available to play for Egypt in their upcoming Group B match against Cape Verde on Monday, as well as the last 16 and quarter final matches if they qualify. Klopp explained that the idea is to bring Salah back from Ivory Coast to get him the most effective medical attention.

The manager of Liverpool said that he is planning for the injured player, Salah, to go through his rehabilitation process with their team or medical staff. It is not clear if this plan has been finalized yet. The manager had spoken with Salah shortly after the injury, but now the doctor is updating him on the player's progress. The manager believes that Salah will recover and return to the team, but they will wait for further updates.

When questioned about Salah's potential return to Ivory Coast if Egypt progresses to the final, Klopp responded by saying that he is not a medical expert, but if Salah is fully recovered and Egypt makes it to the final, then it's possible that Salah might participate. Klopp added that he is not aware of any connections that Liverpool has with Ivory Coast, and therefore it's up to the local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of their players. The decision about Salah's participation will depend on his condition, and there's no guarantee that he will be available for the final.

Afterwards, the Football Association of Egypt released a statement declaring that Salah will journey to England to be given medical care. The FA hopes that he will be able to play for the Egyptian national team during the semi-finals, should they qualify.

Liverpool continues to thrive as Núñez and Jota put the ball into the net, giving them a larger advantage over second-place Manchester City by five points (although City has a game in hand). Manager Klopp admitted that his team struggled with consistent play in the first half, but they came back strong in the second half, putting in an impressive performance against Bournemouth. Klopp specifically praised midfielder Alexis Mac Allister from Argentina.

Klopp expressed his admiration for the player's outstanding performance, stating that he was extremely pleased for him. He praised the player, describing him as a quality footballer who contributed both defensively and offensively to the team's success. Klopp also acknowledged the player's vital role in the team's first-half good performance.

Andoni Iraola, the head coach of Bournemouth, gave credit to Liverpool for their excellent precision and recognized that his team couldn't keep up with their best performance after showing courage in the first half of the match. "Liverpool maintained their high-level energy for 100 minutes," said Iraola. "When we lost some strength and gave them more room, it got very challenging for us since they capitalized on their opportunities."
