Last Saturday, armed motorcyclists kidnapped the parents of the famous celebrity while they were filling up gasoline at a service station located in the town of Barrancas, which lies near the frontier with Venezuela.

The mother of the winger, Cilenis Marulanda, was saved quickly by the police through the use of roadblocks. However, the hunt for his father Luis Manuel Diaz is still ongoing.

On Tuesday evening, the soccer player posted a plea on his Instagram Story, while his family, including his mother, were participating in a demonstration to demand their loved one's freedom.

The young adult shared a picture promoting a gathering with a caption that reads: "Join us in marching to demand the freedom of 'Mane' Diaz".

The blog post also provided information about where and when the vigil would take place. Additionally, it encouraged attendees to bring a candle, which would symbolize their hope that the person in question would be released from captivity.

The police are carrying out searches in a forest located in the northern part of Colombia, as there is an increasing apprehension that the father of Diaz may have been illegally taken across the border into Venezuela by smugglers. The operation involves both aerial and ground patrols conducted by law enforcement officials.

The search for something in a region that spans across Colombia and another country has also included the participation of special forces from Colombia. The area in question encompasses a range of mountains.

The authorities are willing to pay a hefty sum of $48,000 (£39,000) to anyone who can provide relevant details that would lead to the safe retrieval of Mr. Diaz.

According to The Guardian, law enforcement officials have stated that they have potentially recognized two potential culprits related to the incident.

For a long time, criminals in Colombia have abducted civilians for money to fund their activities, however, the number of cases has risen in recent times.

The increase in violence persists despite the attempts of the authorities to negotiate truces with insurgent factions.

Many consider Diaz to be one of the most gifted athletes in Colombia, and he transferred to Liverpool from Porto in a transaction estimated at approximately £50 million.
