John Hunt: the BBC racing presenter whose family was killed in the crossbow killings
John Hunt is well-known to many BBC Radio 5 Live listeners for his work as a racing commentator.
After leaving his career in law enforcement, he transitioned to a new field in broadcasting because his wife, Carol, saw an opportunity in the late 1980s. She noticed a job opening for a trainee position at Ladbrokes in the Harrow Observer.
His passion for horse racing was so strong that he was willing to accept a lower salary in order to follow his dream. With Carol's constant encouragement, he was able to build a thriving career in the industry.
In 2004, he was recruited by Radio 5 Live to report on horse racing but quickly expanded his coverage to include other sports such as equestrianism and the modern pentathlon at the London 2012 Olympics.
"Family Of Five With Three Girls"
After that, he included swimming in the list of sports he participates in, and has reported on a range of different competitions at both the summer and winter Olympics.
Mr and Mrs Hunt got married in Harrow in 1991 and welcomed three daughters into their family, born in 1993, 1996, and 1999.
Their oldest daughter became a journalist and has been employed in the United States.
Hannah, the second daughter, worked as a beautician, while Louise, the youngest sibling, owned a dog grooming business near their family's residence in Bushey, Hertfordshire.
Louise was in a relationship with Kyle Clifford, the man who was arrested by the police on Wednesday night. However, they had broken up recently, and she had confided in neighbors that she was extremely upset about the end of their relationship.
Even though Mr. Hunt is frequently away for work, the family still loves to travel. His wife frequently shares photos of their happy holiday adventures on her social media accounts.
BBC Executives Shocked By Tragedy
Last Tuesday, when the murders occurred, Mr. Hunt was at Lingfield Racecourse attending a gathering, completely unaware of the tragic events happening at his house.
His coworkers at BBC Sport and Radio 5 Live were reported to be shocked and heartbroken by the news.
In a message from company executives to employees, they expressed deep sorrow over the tragic news about John Hunt's family.
We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts during this very tough time and we will offer him as much help as possible.
