Manager Thomas Frank announced before Sunday's match in London that although a contract has not been finalized for the 28-year-old player, who is in the last year of his current deal, his status with the team is uncertain.

Several English teams, such as Arsenal and Manchester United, are said to be keen on signing Toney. He was also strongly rumored to be leaving Brentford in January.

Frank informed Sky Sports that Ivan is currently experiencing various activities related to transfers. Due to the transfer interest surrounding him, we have made the decision to exclude him from the squad.

Certainly, Ivan is a skilled player, that is common knowledge. He has performed exceptionally well for our team during the past four years. However, we have demonstrated, particularly last year, that we are capable of managing without him.

When Toney was asked if he had played his last game for Brentford, Frank said, "It's hard to say. There is some interest, but nothing definite yet."

Toney netted 20 goals during the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, adding four more upon his return from suspension the previous season.

He was a member of Gareth Southgate's England team at Euro 2024 after scoring his debut goal for his country in March.

Brentford was adamant about receiving a payment of at least £60m for their forward, especially after witnessing Dominic Solanke transfer from Bournemouth to Tottenham for a comparable amount at the beginning of the summer.
