Football transfer rumours: Ivan Toney to Al-Ahli? Billy Gilmour to Napoli?

Ivan Toney

With less than two weeks left before the transfer window closes abruptly, it's only fitting that we revive this daily assortment of gossip.

Ivan Toney was not able to play in Brentford's victory against Crystal Palace this past Sunday due to attracting attention from other teams interested in acquiring him. The team showing the most interest appears to be Al-Ahli, a club from the Saudi Pro League. If Toney is interested in the financial benefits that come with such a move, we wish him luck. Brentford's coach, Thomas Frank, has acknowledged that there is a possibility Toney may leave for a new opportunity, but he also mentioned that nothing is finalized at this time.

Fulham have reportedly returned to Manchester United to try and make a deal for Scott McTominay. It is possible that this transfer saga could be the longest of the summer. Fulham supporters at Old Trafford during Friday's match expressed their belief that the Scotland midfielder is eager to join their team, which could result in the transfer being finalized.

There are other teams interested in signing a Scottish midfielder besides Marco Silva. Napoli is also looking at McTominay and Billy Gilmour from Brighton. Las Palmas has contacted Tony Khan from Fulham to try and sign Carlos Vinícius. Corinthians, a Brazilian team, might also compete for the striker's services.

Ilkay Gündogan has informed Barcelona that he wants to leave, sparking interest from José Mourinho who is interested in bringing him to Fenerbahce. The ex-Manchester City player has been rumored to be considering a move to the Super Lig due to his Turkish background. Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has a different opinion, stating, "I have a good relationship with him and I respect him as a player and a person. We have had discussions, but that is private. I believe he will stay with us."

Southampton are hoping to recover from their loss on the first day of the season against Newcastle by acquiring Mateus Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon. The 20-year-old player had a successful season while on loan at Estoril and is expected to cost around £13m. On a different note, Ansu Fati had a disappointing season at Brighton and is now looking for a new team as he is not wanted at Barcelona. Benfica, Wolves, and Fenerbahce are all interested in signing the 21-year-old Spanish winger.

Crystal Palace is currently in discussions with Wolfsburg regarding a possible transfer for Maxence Lacroix. It remains to be seen how this negotiation will impact the future of Marc Guéhi, who is also drawing interest from Newcastle. Palace is demanding a high price for their captain, while Newcastle is weighing their choices. Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, is also considering making a move for Joe Gomez, who was notably absent from the Liverpool squad during their match against Ipswich last Saturday.

Another player catching the eye at Selhurst Park is Carney Chukwuemeka, who appears to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea. The team signed an excess of players, leading to a bloated squad. In order to trim down their wage bill, Chelsea are willing to sell the midfielder.

Nottingham Forest attempted to recruit Àlex Moreno from Real Betis two years ago, but the Spanish defender was not interested. He is now part of Aston Villa but may be permitted to depart, and could be open to joining the east Midlands team. Forest may have to compete with La Liga clubs Villarreal, Sevilla, and Valencia for his signature.
