People on social media had a fast and powerful response to the performance of the national anthem at Monday's Home Run Derby. Some claimed it was the worst version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" they've ever heard at a sporting competition.

The national song was performed by singer Ingrid Andress, a country music artist who has been nominated for a Grammy award four times. Her most recent nomination was in 2023 for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

"My ears hurt. That was one of the worst performances of the national anthem ever," Astros reporter Michael Schwab wrote.

"Do you recall Whitney Houston's rendition of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl? This performance is completely different," stated baseball journalist C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Reds.

A few people mentioned that they noticed one of the baseball players at the Derby seemed to be suppressing giggles.

Andress' newest album, Good Person, came out in 2022 and featured the track "Wishful Drinking," which she worked on with Sam Hunt. This song made it to number 11 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and number 47 on the Billboard Hot 100. Good Person also reached number 18 on the Billboard Hot Country Albums chart. Her first album, Lady Like, released in 2020, reached number 9 on the same chart.

According to her website, she has performed as the main act in concerts and has also traveled on tour with artists such as Keith Urban, Dan + Shay, Tim McGraw, and Stevie Nicks. Lady Like, her debut album, made history by becoming the most streamed album by a female country artist upon its release.

She has four performances coming up soon.

Additionally, her website mentioned that she is currently in the recording studio working on her third album.

There is no sign that Andress has posted about her performance on social media from Monday night. Some people on social media have said that her performance was similar to ones done by Fergie and Roseanne Barr at sporting events in the past.

The artist hails from Michigan but also lived in Colorado with her family during her childhood. Andress' father, Brad Andress, was a coach for the Detroit Tigers and Colorado Rockies for many years, as stated on Baseball Reference.

Ingrid Andress revealed this week that she will be releasing a new song called "Colorado 9" on July 24th.
