Ingrid Andress, who is both a singer and a songwriter, performed the national anthem at the MLB's Home Run Derby. However, her performance did not receive a positive response and was criticized as being below par.
People on social media were fast to criticize the country singer's a cappella, melodically versatile rendition of the song on Monday.
"My ears hurt so bad. That was one of the worst performances of the national anthem ever," a harsh comment from a user on X.
A different perspective labeled her version as "captivating, to put it mildly..."
"This is the sound of a Grammy-nominated artist's vocals without any help from Auto-Tune or music in the background (a cappella)....Their future in the industry may be in jeopardy," another person commented.
Some people thought Joe Biden could have sung it better.
Some people even pleaded: "Please, refrain from attempting to sing our National Anthem in the future."
One person commented that the performance of the national anthem by Ingrid Andress was terrible, possibly one of the worst things to happen in America recently. Another person replied, mentioning the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, saying it had not been a good week in terms of what people were hearing.
Some people thought her performance was similar to Fergie's rendition of the national anthem in 2018 at an NBA game, which was criticized as one of the worst versions ever. Now, critics are mentioning that they would have rather preferred Fergie's rendition.
"With all respect, and I say this honestly, this is the most terrible anthem I have ever listened to. Fergie would have done a better job," commented another person.
Some people shared funny pictures and jokes about people cheering, hinting that Fergie would be happy after Monday's performance. One person commented: "Fergie watching Ingrid Andress take her place for the worst National Anthem performance."
Prior to her performance on Monday and the slew of negative feedback she received, the singer who was nominated for a Grammy announced the upcoming release of a new single on July 24th.
She hasn't replied to the negative comments online. The Independent has sent emails to Andress' representatives.
