The Greater Manchester Police received a report of a violent incident on Victoria Street in Littleborough before 11.30am on Thursday, as people were going to vote in the general election.

The police stated that a female was attacked by a man. There were no reported injuries and no one has been arrested yet.

The Littleborough United Reformed Church, located on Victoria Street, is currently being utilized as a polling place.

Mr. Galloway, a seven-time Member of Parliament who is running to keep the Rochdale seat he won in a by-election last February, claimed: "The female polling station worker in Littleborough was violently attacked outside the polling station with no security present."

A representative from the Workers Party of Britain expressed deep worry about the attack on the woman in a statement to the Manchester Evening News.

"Putting their hands on someone campaigning, particularly a woman, is completely unacceptable, and we truly hope that this situation is quickly and thoroughly dealt with," they said.

The Independent has reached out to the Workers Party for more details.

It happened shortly after the party announced that their candidate for the Sutton Coldfield constituency in the West Midlands, Wajad Burkey, had put his campaign on hold. This decision came after his son was reportedly assaulted by a group using a baseball bat.

"I have decided to stop my campaign because I am honestly scared for my safety," stated Mr. Burkey, as reported by the party. West Midlands Police verified that a man was assaulted with a baseball bat on Beaconsfield Road in the town last Sunday, according to the BBC.

In a recent update on X, previously known as Twitter, Workers Party stated on Thursday, "The increasing number of attacks on our members in recent weeks and months show that the followers of the ruling group are becoming more worried. However, they will not force us out of our local communities."

They stated: "We need to be strong, together, and unwavering when confronted with political violence. We also call for justice for our fellow members - harm to one affects us all."
