Unexpected rain disrupted plans before the session, forcing teams to quickly change their strategies. All 20 drivers rushed out on slick tires on a track that was starting to dry, trying to set a fast time before more rain was expected to come.
Surprisingly, Daniel Ricciardo set the fastest time in the first qualifying session, capitalizing on the better track conditions to briefly grab the spotlight.

1. Lando Norris from McLaren set the fastest time with a lap of 1 minute and 15.227 seconds. 2. Oscar Piastri from McLaren was just 0.022 seconds behind Norris. 3. Max Verstappen from Red Bull was 0.046 seconds off the pace in third place. 4. Carlos Sainz from Ferrari was 0.469 seconds behind Norris in fourth place. 5.
