Many Democrats are sticking with Biden. This is why.

Biden

When Joe Biden appeared at a rally in Detroit, Michigan, on Friday night, the crowd was one of the most energetic and enthusiastic seen in years at a presidential event, chanting, "Don't give up!"

The potential Democratic candidate received a loud and enthusiastic welcome from hundreds of fans as he declared, "I'm in the race! And I'm going to come out victorious!"

After exiting the stage, the sounds of Tom Petty's popular song I Won't Back Down filled the high school gymnasium, sending a clear message to his fellow party members who were urging him to resign due to concerns about his age.

However, despite all the attention on the recent criticism by politicians, donors, and liberal actors towards Mr. Biden, there is a larger group of Democrats who continue to support him.

Over 80 Democratic officials have openly supported the 81-year-old, and more are rallying behind him as he remains firm in his decision to stay.

For many people, what really matters is his accomplishments in politics, his core beliefs, and his successful win over Donald Trump in 2020. These things hold more weight than any mistakes he may make during debates or public events, or concerns about his health during a potential second term.

In Mr. Biden's first press conference of the year, he spoke extensively about Nato and his intentions for a possible second term. However, much of the media attention was on his mistake in calling his deputy, Kamala Harris, "Vice-President Trump".

His supporters - for the time being, at least - commended the controversial leader's actions, which were viewed by more than 23 million individuals in real-time - a larger audience than the Oscars this year.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper praised the impressive grasp of foreign policy displayed by the speaker. He stated that he believes Donald Trump lacks the ability to discuss foreign policy in a coherent manner.

Gavin Newsom, known as a potential future leader in California, expressed his full support for Mr. Biden in an interview with CBS. He emphasized that there was complete alignment between himself and Mr. Biden.

Congressman Brendan Boyle from Pennsylvania commented that Mr. Biden demonstrated his superior knowledge of policy compared to Trump, whom he described as a "convicted conman."

Challenges, mistakes, and significant risks: Biden clashes with the media.

According to experts, these politicians have various reasons for endorsing Biden, such as his previous accomplishments in office, his victory over Trump in 2020, and the risk involved in introducing a new candidate right before the November election.

Simon Rosenberg, a strategist from the Democratic party, stated that the president has clearly expressed his desire to keep running for office. He believes that people are showing great respect towards this decision.

"It is also a fact that in our system, it is difficult and unprecedented to replace a presidential candidate at this stage, which is why there is a lot of hesitation about making a significant change."

He mentioned that there was a "lively discussion" about who should be chosen as the nominee.

Yet, several groups have recommended that Mr. Biden should be the preferred candidate. This includes the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, with approximately 40 members, and the Congressional Black Caucus, consisting of 60 members, whom Mr. Biden recently had a meeting with.

Ameshia Cross, a previous adviser for Obama's campaign, mentioned that the African American caucus and a majority of black voters view Mr. Biden as a president dedicated to ensuring civil rights, which is in contrast to his opponent, Trump.

"He knows the importance of a Donald J Trump presidency," she explained. "This is a man who has opposed diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives."

Joe Biden has garnered backing from a number of left-wing politicians, such as New York's Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Vermont's Bernie Sanders. Both have previously voiced concerns about Biden's moderate agenda.

Ms Cross stated that numerous individuals are aware of the dangers posed by a Trump presidency in relation to civil rights, LGBTQ rights, and climate change.

"These are issues that are important to the liberal wing, and the president has actively addressed them," she stated.

Currently, the majority of support for Mr. Biden is coming from politicians in solidly Democratic areas who are up for reelection, as opposed to those in more competitive districts who are concerned that supporting Mr. Biden could negatively impact their chances of winning.

Mr. Rosenberg stated that the White House should listen to their concerns and address them in a more assertive way.

Although there are increasing demands for Mr. Biden to drop out of the race, the latest poll indicates that he still has a significant amount of voter backing.

The Biden campaign is talking about a new survey by the Washington Post, ABC News, and Ipsos that was released this week. The survey shows that Biden and Trump are tied in popularity, just like before the debate. However, the poll also discovered that two-thirds of Americans believe Biden should withdraw from the race.

The president is no longer getting backing from some of the famous people in Hollywood. Actress Ashley Judd wrote in an article in USA Today, asking Mr. Biden to resign, stating that the party requires a strong candidate. This comes after a harsher opinion piece from George Clooney about Mr. Biden earlier this week.

Long-time supporter of the Democratic party, Whitney Tilson, has decided to stop raising money for their candidates. He told the BBC that he believes Joe Biden will soon withdraw from the race. Several other donors also informed the fundraising group Future Forward that they will not contribute the promised $90 million until Biden drops out, as reported by the New York Times.

Some of the highest contributing supporters are still supporting the president.

Actress Ashley Judd expressed that Mr. Biden was unable to effectively challenge Trump.

Shekar Narasimhan, who has been hosting events to raise money for Democrats for over twenty years, stated that his plans have not changed.

Mr. Narsimhan, the founder of the Asian American Pacific Islander Victory Fund Super-PAC, mentioned that we are aware of what is happening around us, but we are focusing on our tasks and working diligently.

The president will ultimately decide whether or not he will run for re-election, and we will support his choice. However, it would be best to put an end to this debate sooner rather than later.

He stated that he backed Mr. Biden because he was confident in his chances of winning.

He mentioned that the outcome of this election will come down to fewer than 50,000 votes in just three states: Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. He expressed confidence in our campaign's efforts and organization in those key battleground states.

Frank Islam, a member of the National Finance Committee, announced that he will be organizing a fundraising event at his residence in Maryland at the end of the month. "I am definitely moving forward with the event because I am confident that he [Mr. Biden] will emerge victorious," he affirmed.
