During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, The Idea of You's lead actress shared that due to the immense trolling and negativity from social media users, she was struggling to find acting work. However, her career was revived when Nolan intervened and gave her an opportunity.

Looking back on the popular “Hathahate” trend, Anne shared: “Many individuals refused to cast me in projects due to the negativity my online reputation had garnered.”

When discussing her role as chief scientist Amelia Brand in the science fiction film Interstellar from 2014, the speaker stated that Christopher Nolan was like an angel to her. Although she had concerns about her ability to play the role, Nolan was supportive and provided her with an excellent opportunity to showcase her talent in one of the best films she has been a part of. Overall, she had a beautiful experience with her character in Interstellar and is grateful to Nolan for his support.

Just two years prior, Anne played Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, which was highly praised by Nolan.

She expressed uncertainty about whether or not he was aware that he was supporting her during that time, but she acknowledged that his support had a positive impact. Without his endorsement, her career could have stagnated.
