The second-in-command of the Labour Party is under scrutiny over whether she correctly paid the appropriate tax amount when selling her council house in 2015.

According to her, she was informed by her legal advisor that she did not breach any regulations.

She stated that she would not be revealing her recommendations for taxes to the general public.

During an interview on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, she stated that the information she was discussing was of a personal nature.

However, she mentioned that she would surrender it to the police or HM Revenue and Customs if necessary.

She expressed her willingness to cooperate with the relevant authorities who are interested in examining the matter, stated in her statement to Today.

The woman claimed that she didn't commit any wrongdoing. She also declared that she would disclose the guidance only if Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister, and other high-ranking members of the Conservative Party presented information about their taxes from the past 15 years.

She stated, "If you reveal yours to me, I'll reveal mine to you."

Following concerns raised by James Daly, the deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, Greater Manchester Police has announced that they will reconsider their previous decision not to investigate claims that she provided inaccurate details on official documents.

It's up to HM Revenue and Customs to determine whether or not she violated tax regulations in regards to the sale of her council house, not the police.

The leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer, showed his support for his deputy, Angela, in public by stating that he fully trusts and believes in her abilities. He highlighted that they both aim to bring the Labour Party back into power, with the ultimate goal of serving and representing the working-class citizens.

According to a book written by Lord Ashcroft, who was previously a deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, there were allegations made about Ms Rayner's former council residence located on Vicarage Road in Stockport, which is situated in Greater Manchester.

Doubts were expressed regarding if the house was her primary dwelling when she sold it, which could have influenced the amount of tax she had to pay.

In 2007, Ms Rayner, previously known as Bowen, purchased a semi-detached property. She received a 25% reduction on the price of the property due to the implementation of the Right to Buy initiative introduced by previous Conservative leader, Margaret Thatcher.

She got married to Mark Rayner on September 2010, and he owned a different house not far from theirs on Lowndes Ln.

According to The Mail on Sunday, who is publishing the book in parts, it has been revealed that Ms Rayner's name was listed in the electoral roll for Vicarage Road until she disposed of the property in 2015.

However, it seems that she provided divergent address details when she renewed the birth certificates of her two children in 2010 after tying the knot with Mr. Rayner.

Back in March 2015, Ms Rayner made a profit of £48,500 by selling her property located at Vicarage Road for a total amount of £127,500. It's worth noting that this happened just two months before her tenure as MP began. Recently, the couple parted ways in the year 2020.

James Daly serves as Member of Parliament for the constituency of Bury North, whereas Angela Rayner represents the Ashton-Under-Lyne constituency in Greater Manchester.
