Julen Lopetegui agrees to become West Ham manager
West Ham has signed a contract with Julen Lopetegui to be their manager after the season concludes.
There hasn't been any official agreement yet, but the 57-year-old is nearing a comeback to managing a team after leaving his position in Wolverhampton in August of last year.
David Moyes, the current manager of West Ham football club, is currently facing more and more criticism as a result of their recent performance. In their past nine Premier League matches, they have only been able to win one, and they were also knocked out of the Europa League in the quarter-finals.
On Sunday, West Ham experienced a devastating defeat of 5-0 by Chelsea, which resulted in them dropping to ninth place in the rankings.
Moyes, whose contract expires in the summer, has consistently avoided discussing his status at the organization and declared that discussions will not occur until they finish their last match against Manchester City on May 19th.
Lopetegui, who used to coach Spain and Real Madrid, has been connected to several job opportunities recently. He's apparently interested in coming back to the Premier League, as he helped Wolves to avoid relegation last season. When he started coaching them, they were in last place in the league.
After earning a European title with Sevilla in 2020, he eventually transferred to Molineux two years subsequent.
The Wolves secured the 13th position in the previous season under Lopetegui's guidance. However, Lopetegui quit as he was disappointed with the financial status of the club.
Meanwhile, Moyes was in charge of three consecutive European competitions for the very first time in the club's history. Additionally, last June, he brought an end to the Hammers' 43-year quest for a trophy, as they secured a last-minute triumph over Fiorentina in the final of Europa Conference League.
However, several supporters have expressed their disapproval towards Moyes' defensive strategies.
