Highlights from Day 7 of Wimbledon: Alcaraz and Sinner advance, while Raducanu and Gauff are shocked.

Donna Vekic came back after losing a set to make it to the semi-finals of a major tennis tournament at Wimbledon. She had a great win against qualifier Lulu Sun, who had been playing surprisingly well but saw her run come to an end.

Vekic competed in her third quarter-final match at a major tennis tournament, and she seized the chance to advance to the semi-finals at the All England Club after a 5-7 6-4 6-1 win in just over two hours on Court 1.

The player ranked 37th globally had to bring out her top-notch skills in tennis to defeat the brave Sun, who had impressed the spectators at Wimbledon with an impressive performance in the first set.

In the end, Vekic managed to break through and win the close second set before dominating the third set. She is the only unseeded player remaining in the women's competition, at 28 years old.

Sun was on the verge of a remarkable achievement, as the New Zealander aimed to become just the second qualifier to make it to the semi-finals in the women's singles event at the grass-court Grand Slam.

In 1999, Mirjana Lucic was the last Croatian player to make it to the semi-finals of the women's singles at Wimbledon. Now, Donna Vekic has achieved the same accomplishment.

"The years 2021 and 2022 were really challenging," Vekic stated. "I never thought I would be able to reach the same level I was at last year."

I am extremely proud of my achievement at this Grand Slam tournament, it is the best result I have ever achieved. I owe this success to the hard work I have put in, as well as the efforts of my team.

"Before the game started, I was feeling calm. The only time I felt a little nervous was during the match when I saw how brilliantly Sun was performing. It's not like I was surprised by her great performance. I knew she would come out strong."

I couldn't seem to get the power I needed in my shots. My execution wasn't up to par with what I had hoped for. This made me feel more stressed and tense. However, in the end, I was able to get back into my rhythm and perform better.

Vekic will face either the seventh seed Jasmine Paolini from Italy or the 19th seed Emma Navarro from the USA in the next round of the semi-finals.
