Werner And Kulusevski Chat With Sky Sports
Is This A Turning Point For Timo Werner?
Werner had to leave the game after seemingly injuring his right leg, so Tottenham will need to assess the situation. However, he was able to talk to Sky Sports after the match, and this felt like a significant advancement for Timo Werner.
He scored decisively to give Spurs an early advantage, marking just his third goal since arriving in January. His eagerness to push forward and connect with Kulusevski's cross was unmatched.
Postecoglou is counting on Werner to help carry more of the goal-scoring load as they move ahead.
Guardiola's Setback: Long-term Relief Ahead?
Make no mistake, Pep Guardiola is likely frustrated with himself for his team being outplayed by Spurs, and he's disappointed that the opportunity for a quadruple this season has slipped away.
He had faith in his young players, and they performed admirably against some tough competition. However, the reality is that Tottenham could have achieved more.
With the potential for the season to exceed 60 matches, particularly due to the enlarged Club World Cup, and with Rodri facing a lengthy absence, City may actually gain from not participating in the Carabao Cup. Having a few fewer midweek games will certainly provide some much-needed relief as player fatigue increases.
Spurs Celebrate A Major Victory
Take a deep breath, Ange Postecoglou. This season has been quite challenging for the Australian coach. His team managed to make a last-minute comeback against Coventry in the last round to advance to this point. If it weren't for the exceptional performances of Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson in the Midlands last month, they might have been watching this game from home.
However, they've made it to the quarterfinals and have achieved a significant victory.
I can picture Yves Bissouma being the hero of the locker room after his crucial last-minute clearance.
Manchester City 2, Tottenham 1: Full-Time Result
Tottenham Triumphs 2-1 Over Manchester City
Savinho sends a header soaring over the crossbar following a cross from Wright. He didn't manage to generate enough power to withstand the challenge. This is probably City's final opportunity.
Tottenham Edges Manchester City 2-1
Jacob Wright has taken on the role of the primary player for long-range attempts tonight, but he sends another chance off target.
Guardiola is encouraging his young players to step up. It's a crucial moment. They either succeed or fail. The team's unbeaten streak this season is at stake.
It may not make a difference in just four minutes, but I think it's worth mentioning because it's uncommon to see City give their rivals such a prime opportunity.
Massive Win: Tottenham Tops Manchester City 2-1
O'Reilly’s shot from a short distance is stopped by Yves Bissouma's extended foot right on the goal line. It’s a crucial save. Spurs are barely managing to hold on.
Tottenham Upsets Manchester City 2-1!
Richarlison is really upset with himself for missing a chance.
Josko Gvardiol made a poor backward pass that he sent across the goal to Richarlison, who found himself one-on-one with Ortega but couldn't find the net. His attempt was weak and went directly at the keeper.
"That was a goal he absolutely should have put away," remarks Alan Smith from Sky Sports. Mail Sport shares the same sentiment. You won't find many opportunities simpler than that when facing City. Could this miss end up haunting them later?
Tottenham Defeats Manchester City 2-1
The Spurs are facing a challenging final ten minutes ahead.
City misses yet another opportunity when Wright fires off a hurried volley in the box, sending the ball flying high and far from the target.
The city is increasing its efforts.
Man City Gives Chance To Young Talent, Haaland Out
A daring and confident decision by Pep Guardiola, as his team is currently trailing 2-1.
Rather than bringing in Erling Haaland, Guardiola substitutes Nathan Ake and gives 18-year-old defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey the chance to make his debut.
He recently shared with the MEN that, when he was younger, he used to admire Sergio Ramos a lot.
Tottenham Defeats Manchester City 2-1!
Jacob Wright came very close.
Kudos to the 19-year-old for taking a shot from outside the box. The ball came to him, and he struck it beautifully with his right foot, but it curved just to the right of the goalpost.
Aston Villa Falls 1-2 To Crystal Palace
Final Score: Preston 0, Arsenal 3
Brad Potts makes a crucial save, sliding in just in time to prevent Raheem Sterling from scoring at the last moment.
Newcastle Secures 2-0 Victory Over Chelsea
"Arsenal Dominates Preston: 3-0 Victory"
Emil Riis Jakobsen nearly delighted the home crowd when he connected with a cross, but unfortunately, he missed the target, sending the ball wide with the inside of his foot.
Tottenham Upsets Manchester City 2-1!
Timo Werner, what a player!
He was liberated. He had put in the effort. With a well-placed ball ahead, he outpaced the defenders effortlessly.
However, when going one-on-one against Ortega, he tries to chip it over, but instead of finding the far corner of the net, he hits the advertising board just inches away.
In the meantime, Gundogan was substituted at halftime, and here’s what JACK GAUGHAN had to say:
It was one of those nights where Gundogan was fortunate to make it to halftime. He didn't perform well at all; he was almost invisible in the game.
Brighton Falls To Liverpool 2-3 In Finale
The Reds manage to pull through a tense finish and advance to the quarterfinals after a chaotic match.
Goal Disallowed: Newcastle Beats Chelsea 2-0
Sean Longstaff believed he had lifted Newcastle to a thrilling victory with a goal at the back post, but unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that way.
Offside. During a free-kick, it appeared that several players from the Toon squad had stepped past the defensive line a bit too soon.
Three Goals I've Achieved Tonight
Tonight has gone by in such a blur that we haven't had the opportunity to review any of our objectives.
Here are my three favorites from the games I'm covering in this blog tonight:
Ethan Nwaneri scored to give Arsenal a 2-0 lead against Preston.
Pape Matar Sarr secures a 2-0 lead for Spurs against Man City.
3) Cody Gakpo scores the first goal for Liverpool against Brighton, making it 1-0.
What an absolutely wild night of football! It has everyone on the edge of their seats.
Lamptey brings Brighton back into the game.
His left-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area hits Jarell Quansah, who was lying on the ground, causing the ball to ricochet past Jaros.
It seems that Luiz Dias has secured the victory for Liverpool.
A save by Jason Steele sent the ball flying into the penalty area, and it seemed to hang in the air forever before finally landing. Once it did, Diaz was there to control it.
He was encircled by defenders, but his exceptional footwork allowed him to create just enough space for a shot, which he curled into the bottom corner of the goal. Absolutely amazing!
Aston Villa Falls To Crystal Palace 1-2
Written by Ross Heppenstall at Villa Park
Palace scores, thanks to a fantastic play by Daichi Kamada, who displayed impressive footwork before taking a powerful shot from 18 yards that found the bottom corner of the Villa goal!
Eagles supporters are cheering exuberantly, and who can blame them?
Their team was ahead with a score of 2-1.
Liverpool got caught trying to build up play from their defense. Evan Ferguson intercepted the ball and fired a shot that was saved by Jaros, but Adingra was right there to capitalize on the rebound and bring the home team back into the match.
Tottenham Triumphs 2-1 Over Manchester City
Matheus Nunes made a crucial half-volley just before the end of the first half.
Savinho sent a cross in from the right side near the edge of the field, sailing past three defenders before reaching Nunez. He struck the ball firmly into the ground, causing it to bounce into the net. Vicario was unable to react in time to stop it.
Aston Villa And Crystal Palace Draw 1-1
Take a look at this - Jhon Duran completely missed an open goal from just a few yards away.
To be fair, he was a bit out of sorts, but nonetheless, he has shown that he is only human.
An outstanding header from Kai Havertz.
Jakub Kiwior sent in a sweeping cross with his left foot from deep in the field, and the player who came on at halftime hammered it into the top left corner of the net. Freddie Woodman had no opportunity to stop it. Those shots are impossible to save.
It seems that Arsenal is easily advancing, while Preston is on track for yet another significant loss in the cup.
Tottenham Strikes! Beats Manchester City 2-0
Phil Foden sends a powerful shot over the crossbar with his left foot.
He was just a few steps from the goal and received a nice chip pass, but instead of hitting it with the laces of his boot, he awkwardly struck it with the outside and sent it sailing way up into the stands, maybe around row M or N? Definitely not row Z, but high enough to worry some airplanes flying by.
Anthony Gordon committed a harsh foul with a late slide tackle on Marc Cucurella, but he was only shown a yellow card. This incident will likely be a topic of discussion after the match.

Is Nwaneri's Career About To Take Off?
By Isaan Khan at Deepdale
Gakpo scored two goals. He was incredibly precise in that moment.
Brighton struggled to handle a long pass from Jaros, allowing the Dutch player to take advantage of the situation. He pushed past Lamptey, who fell to the ground in search of a foul call.
Gakpo charged towards the goal and struck the ball into the near corner with power.
Exciting Opportunity! Brighton 0-1 Liverpool
Surprisingly wasteful from the Reds.
They countered with a three-on-one opportunity after an impressive tackle from Szoboszlai. Gakpo took the lead down the left side with Diaz and Szoboszlai positioned for support. However, when Szoboszlai got the ball and attempted a shot, Steele managed to block it.
Clinical precision has made a significant impact at Deepdale. Arsenal managed only three shots on target this evening, but two of them found the back of the net. Ethan Nwaneri is showing why he's generating so much excitement, displaying his talent with an impressive goal. North End has a tough challenge ahead.
HALF-TIME: Aston Villa 1-1 Crystal Palace - Injuries Hit Visitors
Written by Ross Heppenstall from Villa Park
Tottenham Thrives: 2-0 Victory Over Man City
What did we just see?
A stunning goal by Pape Matar Sarr! Tottenham executed a quick corner play and moved the ball to the midfielder, who was about 25 yards away from the goal.
For the first attempt, he gently directs the ball into the lower right corner with precision. The placement is spot on. Ortega was unable to get to it.
The goals scored tonight are truly remarkable, and we haven't even touched on the chaos happening at Manchester United in this post...

Brighton Falls To Liverpool 0-1: Key Moment!
Jaros made an incredible save. Lamptey raced down the right side and made a run into the box, delivering a cross for Adingra. However, Adingra's header aimed at the bottom corner was skillfully stopped by the goalkeeper.
Give a round of applause to Cody Gakpo.
Just a minute into the second half, he unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner after making a quick move in from the left.
Tottenham Secures 1-0 Win Over Manchester City!
A lackluster finish from Werner. After picking off a careless pass from Gundogan in the attacking zone, he made a quick move inside the box to create room for a shot with his right foot, but ended up sending it directly to Ortega. He needed to do better with that opportunity.
Van De Ven Suffers Injury Setback
Micky Van de Ven has tears in his eyes and seems to be trying to hold them back as he exits the field to make way for Destiny Udogie.
It seems that the defender, who has already dealt with plenty of injury concerns, is now facing a hamstring problem.

Tottenham Edges Manchester City 1-0
Exciting action in North London! Spurs and City are diving right into the match without any hesitation—it's a nonstop battle from one end of the field to the other.
Savinho has been a strong presence on the right side for City, whereas Solanke’s ability to retain possession has proven valuable for Spurs.
Tottenham Edges Past Manchester City 1-0
A dazzling play from Spurs! In just three passes, they moved the ball from one side of the field to the other. Kulusevski delivered a precise cross into the box from the right, allowing Timo Werner to slot it in effortlessly.
The striker executed a composed opening goal, and Spurs have made a strong start.
An incredible goal scored by Ethan Nwaneri.
Gabriel Jesus sets up the young player just outside the box, and with finesse and speed, he curves the ball into the far corner with his left foot. It's a beautiful moment of skill that can't be matched.
"Tottenham And Manchester City Draw 0-0"
The action has started at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and there’s been a last-minute adjustment to the visitors’ lineup: Akanji is sidelined due to a calf injury and has been substituted by Ruben Dias.
At the moment, we’ve hit the halfway point in the match at Brighton, where the score is tied at 0-0 against Liverpool.
Axel Disasi probably won't want to relive that moment.
A chaotic moment in the zone leads to the Chelsea defender accidentally directing the ball into his own goal. Newcastle is over the moon.
Craig Hope is eager to give a shout-out to a standout performer in the midfield:
Even though it's just been 30 minutes, I'm really impressed with how Sandro Tonali is playing in the central midfield trio. He appears excited about taking on the role, showing much more engagement and even picking up his first assist for Newcastle United.
Aston Villa Draws 1-1 With Crystal Palace
Who else could it be but Jhon Duran? This time, he’s starting from the beginning instead of coming on as a substitute. The score is now tied at Villa Park.
Leon Bailey assisted with a pass, and Duran seized the opportunity to strike it into the bottom corner.
A poor attempt to play the ball out from the defense leads to it landing right in front of Alexander Isak, who effortlessly slots it in.
The risks of playing from the back. Chelsea was counting on a foul being called on Renato Veiga, but the referee wasn’t inclined to assist the visiting team, and now they find themselves trailing 1-0. The players from the visiting team gathered around the referee, but their protests were in vain.
Gabriel Jesus scored with a fantastic finish, connecting with a half-volley after Kiwior flicked the ball down from a free-kick. Arsenal has consistently shown their strength in set-piece situations, and they've demonstrated that once more.

Eze Injured: A Major Setback
Brighton And Liverpool Battle To A Stalemate
Liverpool created two quick opportunities to score.
Initially, Szoboszlai had what seemed like an easy opportunity to score from just a few yards away, but his attempt was blocked.
The ball landed right in front of Diaz, but for some reason, he managed to send it off target. That was Liverpool's best opportunity of the match.
Arsenal is dominating possession at Deepdale, holding around 77 percent of the ball. However, this hasn't translated into many scoring opportunities, with Arteta's team managing just a single shot against a strong defensive setup.

Aston Villa Falls 0-1 To Crystal Palace
Eze is our opening scorer tonight with a powerful header.
Munoz lifted the ball into the air from the right side, and the Palace striker headed it decisively into the net.
A perfect beginning for Oliver Glasner.
Aston Villa And Crystal Palace End In Stalemate
Leon Bailey missed an opportunity. Jaden Philogene made an excellent effort to pass him the ball in a crowded area, but it was bouncing around, and Bailey's shot turned out to be weak and rolled harmlessly past the post.
A lucky break for Palace in the beginning. If he had managed to make contact, it could have easily been 1-0.

Golden Opportunity: Newcastle Vs. Chelsea 0-0
How could he have overlooked that?
Shock in the northeast as Joelinton is handed a wide-open chance but hits the ball hard against the post, sending it out of play. Isak set him up perfectly, and he had no defenders around him.
Brighton And Liverpool End In 0-0 Stalemate
Liverpool launched a quick counterattack. Gakpo sped down the left side and delivered a cross into the box, but Diaz was unable to connect with it.

Missed Opportunities: Brighton Battles Liverpool 0-0
Lamptey needed to perform at a higher level in that situation.
He felt the tension mounting as he stood in front of Jaros. Brighton had managed to bypass Liverpool's offside trap, and from 12 yards out, he shifted the ball to his left, but the Liverpool goalkeeper quickly closed in on him.
Gakpo takes a shot from the edge of the box, but it doesn't find the target.
It was a very open match. Endo had a great chance to set Gakpo up for a clear shot at goal, but he overhit the pass significantly.
Tariq Lamptey delivered a fantastic cross into the penalty area from the right side, but Simon Adingra couldn't quite get high enough to make a strong header.
Jason Steele faced a tense situation when Szoboszlai relentlessly pursued him and managed to intercept one of his passes. He can't afford to take his time in that area, but Brighton ultimately found a way to navigate through the pressure.
On the flip side, Gomez appeared to be lounging with the ball, and it's obvious that Brighton will do everything possible to pressure Liverpool. This should be an exciting, fast-paced match.
Liverpool has been performing well up to this point, and Conor Bradley has been quite bold and daring on the right side of the field.
Szoboszlai had a slight opportunity to direct a header towards the goal while in the box, but he was unable to connect with a cross coming in from the right side of the penalty area.
Match Preview: Brighton Vs Liverpool
We're off and running at the Amex as we kick off this double header, with Liverpool preparing to host Brighton later this weekend.
Brighton And Liverpool Are Eliminated
The match is about to begin at the Amex Stadium, with Brighton aiming to finally move beyond the fourth round after 26 years of not being able to do so.
Challenging rivals for that would be the record-breaking 10-time champions, Liverpool.
We're only a few minutes away from kickoff, with most matches starting at 7:45 PM, except for the games involving Tottenham and Manchester City, which will kick off at 8:15 PM.

Brighton Set To Make History
Brighton has made it to the quarter-finals of this tournament just once, and that was during the 1978-79 season.
In that season, they easily overcame Millwall, Burnley, and Peterborough, only to be eliminated by Nottingham Forest, who went on to win the tournament.
Aston Villa And Crystal Palace: Team Updates
Tyrone Mings is back and starts in a match for the first time in 445 days following his knee injury. It's a significant moment for him.
In the meantime, Brighton gives 20-year-old midfielder Brajan Gruda his first start after bringing him in from Mainz during the summer.
Preston Vs. Arsenal: Team Updates
Mikel Arteta is providing opportunities for young players at Deepdale, starting with Ethan Nwaneri and giving 18-year-old Tommy Setford his debut as the goalkeeper.
They haven't completely updated their team information on Twitter, so here it is for you to check out:
XI: Setford, Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Zinchenko, Jorginho, Merino, Nwaneri, Sterling, Martinelli, and Jesus.
Substitutes: Raya, Nichols, Lewis-Skelly, Heaven, Partey, Rice, Trossard, Saka, Havertz.
Preston boasts a solid team and aims to shake off the memory of their last two matches, where they let slip a 2-0 lead against Norwich and a 3-0 lead against Plymouth, both of which ended in draws. Keep an eye on Thordarson's long-range efforts, even though none of Preston's regular forwards are in the starting lineup.
Newcastle Vs Chelsea: Latest Team Updates
Newcastle receives a significant uplift as Anthony Gordon returns to the team after being sidelined with a groin injury during Sunday's loss.
Enzo Maresca provides an opportunity for his carefully put together backup players to showcase their skills.

Exclusive Interview With Rodri
Rodri made history this week by becoming the first Spanish player to win the Ballon d'Or since Luis Suarez did so in 1960. This news sparked a significant backlash from Real Madrid, whose representatives opted not to attend the award ceremony upon learning that Vinicius Junior had been overlooked for the top honor.
Our own Jack Gaughan presents this special interview with Rodri.
Brighton Vs. Liverpool: Latest Team Updates
Both Brighton and Liverpool put on impressive performances tonight.
In a thrilling moment, Vitezslav Jaros made his first competitive start as goalkeeper, stepping in for Caoimhin Kelleher during the 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace. He's been anticipating this opportunity for four years. Additionally, 18-year-old Ranel Young made his debut on the bench.
The Reds made a total of eight adjustments.
Spurs Aim To Conquer City, But Travel Woes Loom
Ange Postecoglou continues to look for his inaugural victory against Manchester City as the head coach of Spurs, but the excitement of last season's dramatic 3-3 draw indicates that success could be within reach.
The season has gotten off to a bit of an uneven start for Spurs, which adds to the tension surrounding their upcoming match against the league leaders. So far, no team has managed to defeat City this season.
We'll have to see how many fans traveling from afar arrive on time. Tottenham is alerting everyone about potential "major delays." Back in September, the traffic was so congested that Qarabag's team bus arrived late, causing their Europa League match to start 38 minutes behind schedule.
Is This Unai Emery's Shot At A Trophy?
Aston Villa has kicked off the season with impressive energy once more, but let's be clear: the Carabao Cup might be their most realistic opportunity to win a trophy.
Ross Heppenstall is at Villa Park this evening for Mail Sport, where Oliver Glasner is under pressure to secure a victory, with rumors suggesting that the board has set an ultimatum for him to improve results by the next international break. They recently achieved a crucial win against Tottenham, finishing 1-0, thanks to a much-needed goal from Mateta.
Preston Aims To Shock Arsenal
The sole team from the Championship still in the competition is aiming to upset one of the top clubs in European football.
Preston advanced after a nail-biting 16-15 win on penalties against Fulham in the third round. Having faced tough defeats—losing 3-0 to Tottenham in the 2022-23 season and 4-0 to Chelsea last year—can Paul Heckingbottom defy the odds and lead his team to an upset victory over the Lilywhites?
Mikel Arteta is likely to have different plans in mind.
Toon And Blues: A Case Of Deja Vu
Just three days ago, Chelsea triumphed over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge, where the crowd enjoyed another impressive display from Cole Palmer.
Nicolas Jackson and Palmer's goals made the difference, leaving Newcastle without a win in their last five Premier League matches. However, they have an opportunity to bounce back tonight.
Chelsea and Newcastle faced off in the League Cup last season, where Chelsea managed to advance by winning the penalty shootout following Mudryk's last-minute equalizer.
Brighton And Liverpool To Start Us Off
The opening match tonight features Brighton taking on Liverpool, starting at 7:30 PM. Liverpool has suffered just one defeat this season, but they faced a challenge to that unbeaten record from Arsenal on Sunday.
Brighton, in great shape themselves, have conveniently released the start times for their matches around the world. This aligns with a current trend where clubs can at least give the impression of having a worldwide following.
