In a segment on "Forbes Newsroom," Republican strategist Brittany Martinez addressed the backlash over comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's remarks that sparked outrage during former President Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden. Hinchcliffe, who gained fame from the Netflix Roast of Tom Brady, referred to Puerto Rico as "a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean" and also made disrespectful comments about Black and Jewish Americans.
Martinez, previously an aide to former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, added his voice to many others from both political parties denouncing the comments. He also took issue with the Trump campaign for not properly vetting Hinchcliffe, stating, "That was a glaring mistake by the campaign."
She also took issue with Senator JD Vance’s response to the backlash during a campaign event after the MSG incident. The Ohio senator commented, “We need to stop being so easily offended by every minor issue in the United States.”
"I don't believe that's a suitable reaction," Martinez stated. "You're campaigning for the role of vice president of the United States. I think he ought to have handled it in a more diplomatic way."
