Many fans shared videos of the special moment on social media. The lights in the house were dimmed, and commentary from ITV was heard through the speakers while the last moments of the game were displayed on the band's backdrop.

After the game ended, the crowd of 20,000 cheered loudly as red and white confetti shot into the air from the stage. Following that, the band started playing their well-known song.

One person on X/Twitter exclaimed: "Incredible! England emerges victorious during a live performance by @thekillers at @TheO2! They played Mr. Brightside right after."

One person commented: "During their performance at the O2 tonight, The Killers paused to celebrate the end of the England victory and then promptly began playing Mr Brightside."

Shortly after, the user commented: "It was well-received, wouldn't you say?"

England secured their spot in the Euro 2024 final in an exciting way after Ollie Watkins scored an amazing goal in the last minute, leading them to a 2-1 victory over the Netherlands. They will go up against Spain on Sunday.

The game in Dortmund began with a lot of energy as Xavi Simons scored a fantastic goal from a distance after stealing the ball from Declan Rice.

However, the England team reacted, as Harry Kane was tripped by Denzel Dumfries and successfully scored the penalty that followed.

The song "Mr Brightside" has become very popular in the UK since it was first released more than twenty years ago.

The Independent's Mark Beaumont delved deep into the creation of the song last year.

Beaumont described the riff as being like a burst of energy that fills the room with excitement. It's a light and catchy melody that is like indie rock's version of a popular tune that gets everyone moving. Even years after its release, this song still gets people on their feet and dancing. The message of overcoming challenges like jealousy and heartbreak is a relatable and powerful one that resonates with listeners. The lyrics capture the feeling of heartbreak and longing, making it a timeless anthem that continues to captivate audiences.

Every generation, after drinking five pints, can't help but sing along to the unforgettable song "Mr. Brightside". This song, which has been on the UK charts for the longest time, is now celebrating its 20th anniversary. It has become more than just a popular song from the 2000s - it is now an anthem that transcends age groups, similar to "Bohemian Rhapsody". Surprisingly, the song almost never made it to the public.
