Police have taken six individuals into custody in connection with a situation currently unfolding in Southend-on-Sea.

The Essex Police have confirmed that they were arrested earlier tonight for causing "disorder".

David Burton-Sampson, the Labour MP for Southend West and Leigh, cautioned individuals to steer clear of the vicinity as the arrests unfolded.

Essex Police stated that they plan to be regularly seen in the region for the following two days.

On Tuesday, Essex Police implemented a dispersal order at Southend seafront. This order grants officers additional authority to address anti-social behavior.

The restriction will be in effect until 8:00 PM BST on Wednesday and includes locations such as Marine Parade, Pier Hill, High Street, Western Esplanade, and the city's two train stations.

The head of the Southend local government mentioned that there had been a significant increase in the number of people moving into the city.

Past dispersal orders were implemented in the city due to worries about the actions of young people congregating on the seafront.

Chief Superintendent Morgan Cronin stated that the police officers have attended to the incidents brought to their attention by the public this evening, and the details provided by them have been extremely helpful.

We will be out in Southend tonight and tomorrow, so if you have any information, please don't hesitate to approach one of our officers or reach out to us for assistance.

Daniel Cowan, the leader of the Labour Party in Southend City Council, mentioned there has been a "significant increase in the number of youth."

Posting on his Facebook and other social media accounts, he advised everyone to remain calm and steer clear of Jubilee beach tonight as Essex Police are currently handling a high number of young individuals in the area.

"It's a situation that is still unfolding, and both CCTV and law enforcement are keeping a close eye on it. Additional police resources are on their way to help enforce the dispersal order that has been put in place."
