Sky News UK among global broadcasters hit by IT outage - TVBEurope

The problem is believed to have started from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike when a faulty update was released worldwide, causing companies to lose access to their computers.

Sky News UK and Sky Sports News have been removed from broadcasting due to what is being called the largest IT failure ever.

Sky News started having issues at around 5am and switched to showing documentaries by 7am. Eventually, the channel went offline completely about an hour after that.

The TV station came back on at 8:50 AM with a different background and no graphics, teleprompter, or videos. It quickly went off air again after a brief news update and then came back on at 9 AM.

In a post on X (formerly Twieter), David Rhodes, chairman of Sky News, mentioned that the network was unable to show live television earlier in the day. However, most of our news updates can still be found on the internet, and we are putting in effort to bring back all our services.

In a recent blog post, Microsoft 365 announced that they are looking into a problem that is affecting users' ability to use different Microsoft 365 apps and services.

Crowdstike, a company that focuses on protecting against online threats, recently made an announcement regarding a problem in one of their updates for Windows devices. They have assured customers that they are addressing the issue and have already released a solution. This issue only affects Windows devices and does not involve any security breaches or cyberattacks. Customers using Mac or Linux devices are not impacted by this issue.

Australian television channels including Sky News Australia and ABC were also impacted and had to stop broadcasting.

AWS, NOW, Virgin Media, and BT are some of the companies that are experiencing issues, as reported by DownDetector.
