During a concert in Colorado, Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has finally addressed his sexuality, putting an end to years of speculation.

The 26-year-old singer known for "Treat You Better," who has had relationships with other pop stars like Camila Cabello and Sabrina Carpenter, has voiced his distress over ongoing rumors about his sexuality. He has mentioned in the past that he feels compelled to be seen in public with a girl to demonstrate that he isn't gay.

During his performance at Morrison's Red Rocks Amphitheatre on October 28, Mendes shared that he had been contemplating whether or not to say something during the show.

After taking a brief pause, Mendes received encouragement from his fans before discussing his journey as a young artist in the music world, which began when he was only 15 years old.

"I honestly didn't get the chance to experience many typical activities of a 15-year-old or explore different aspects of myself that usually come with being that age," he mentioned.

"My sexuality is something that people have been discussing for quite a while now, and I find that a bit amusing. I believe that sexuality is incredibly intricate and nuanced, making it difficult to categorize neatly."

It often felt like a violation of something deeply personal. It was a journey I was on to understand myself, a process of discovery that I'm still experiencing and exploring.

"The honest reality of my life and my sexuality is that I'm in the process of figuring it all out, just like everyone else. It can be quite intimidating, especially since we live in a world that has many opinions on the matter. I'm making an effort to be courageous and embrace my humanity, allowing myself to experience a range of emotions. For now, that's all I really want to share."

He then shared that creating his latest song, “The Mountain,” was significant for him. It felt like an opportunity to express something deeply personal. “I’m just speaking openly now,” he said, "because I really want to connect with everyone and live openly."

Mendes has received an outpouring of admiration for his sincere message, and numerous fans have come to his defense amid the ongoing conversations about his sexuality over the years.

“One fan commented, ‘Celebrities don't owe us anything, so let's stop probing them about their sexual orientation and allow them to live their lives.’”

Another commenter remarked, “He genuinely appears to be a really good person who is longing for tranquility. I'm wishing you find it, sweetheart.”

In the meantime, another individual remarked, “Everyone should have the freedom to live their own lives and find their own way, without feeling pressured to discuss it openly all the time.”

This follows Mendes paying his respects to former One Direction member Liam Payne, who sadly passed away at the age of 31.

While performing at the Brooklyn Paramount Theatre in New York, Mendes shared with the audience that the news he received was "heartbreaking."

He mentioned, "I've had the chance to meet Liam a few times, and he had such a lovely spirit. His eyes sparkled; it was truly a wonderful sight."

"It’s a time to mourn for those we’ve lost, to share our tears, but it’s also a chance to honor their memory and reflect on what they meant to us and the impact they had on the world. I just want to pause for a moment to send a lot of love to him, no matter where he may be right now."

"Liam, you mean so much to us. The world is mourning your loss, and we’re all sending our thoughts and prayers to your son and your family. I really miss you, buddy. Tonight, this one is dedicated to you, Liam, from everyone here."
