Richmond and Northallerton general election 2024 results in full as Rishi Sunak contests seat

Voters in Richmond and Northallerton have cast their votes in the 2024 general election.

A new Member of Parliament is going to be chosen for the North Yorkshire area, covering various wards such as Catterick Village, Brompton-on-Swale, Great Ayton, Hipswell, Colburn, Leyburn, Middleham, Morton-on-Swale, Appleton Wiske, North Richmondshire, Northallerton North, Brompton, Northallerton South, Richmond, Romanby, Scotton, Lower Wensleydale, Stokesley, and Upper Dales.

The new district is largely made up of the previous Richmond area. Before the national election, the Member of Parliament for Richmond was Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The Conservative representative won the district in 2015 and is running for reelection.

Rishi Sunak unexpectedly decided to hold a general election during the summer on May 22. This election included voting for representatives in all 650 areas of the United Kingdom. Significant boundary changes have occurred in almost all Parliamentary areas since the last general election in 2019.

Before the election, the Parliament had been under the control of a Conservative government since 2010.

Voting ended in the general election 2024 at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, and counting is now underway. We should be seeing results from all over the UK in the early hours of Friday morning.
