Numerous Netflix users are expressing comparable grievances about the latest release, Rebel Moon, which is presently the most popular movie on the platform.

The recent movie in the fantasy genre is the most recent offering from Zack Snyder, who is known for directing and writing popular films such as 300 and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It has overtaken the Aardman follow-up, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, and the thriller Leave the World Behind in terms of box office rankings. Snyder's awe-inspiring film concentrates on the first part of a two-part series, and the audience will have to wait until 2024 to discover the second half of the franchise.

The first installment of Rebel Moon titled "A Child of Fire" was recently released on Netflix (December 21st) and has garnered a lot of negative feedback from critics, such as The Independent, who gave it a one-star review and called it chaotic and difficult to understand.

Although some critics seem to agree with this assessment, resulting in the movie's low rating of only 23% on Rotten Tomatoes, the viewers who have actually watched the film appear to have a different opinion. As of now, Rebel Moon has a 69% audience score.

It's not unexpected that the movie is receiving a more favorable response from the audience than from the critics. Snyder has a devoted following, and they have enthusiastically rallied behind his latest project on social media.

Despite being a dedicated fan of Snyder, it seems that many people still believe there is a problem with the film - it's too short. On social media, people are criticizing "Rebel Moon" for its pacing and suggesting that Netflix should have released the director's cut already instead of waiting until 2024 for a big reveal.

One person commented that Netflix's decision to not release the longer, better edit of the show was a mistake. Another viewer had minor issues with the pacing but assumed they would be resolved in the longer version.

The rest of the audience also gave their approval, with one individual saying on X's Twitter account, "I'm really enjoying Rebel Moon, but I want to know when the longer edition will be released since I still have 30 minutes left." In another location, someone else added, "It is distressing and selfish not to release the full 'director's cut' right away on Netflix."

At the same time, Forbes expressed concern over the impact Netflix's decision of delaying the release of the director's cut of Rebel Moon could have on the movie's success. It was speculated that this move was a strategy to generate buzz among Snyder's loyal supporters.

Snyder has been outspoken about the presence of a prolonged edition of the movie that is not appropriate for minors. He has disclosed that Netflix requested him to produce a more extensive rendition of the flick, and he stated that the outcome is "almost equivalent to a distinct motion picture".

He informed AP that the new cut of the movie is not merely an extended version, but rather a distinct universe in comparison to the original film.

The first part of Rebel Moon, titled "A Child of Fire," was created by Snyder alongside Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten. The story revolves around a group of fighters battling against the Imperium, a fictional military power that endangers a farming community located on the moon. Some of the top actors appearing in the film include Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, and Anthony Hopkins.

Actress Doona Bae stars in the upcoming Netflix sci-fi movie 'Rebel Moon'.

You can currently watch the movie on Netflix, and the second installment will become available on the 19th of April 2024.
