No Gun Evidence: Ian Hislop's Taxi Not Shot At
It was reported that neither Ian Hislop nor the taxi driver were injured when the window broke.
Authorities looking into a claim that a gun was fired at a taxi with Ian Hislop on board in downtown London have discovered no signs indicating that a firearm was used.
A representative from the Metropolitan Police mentioned that “immediate analysis of CCTV footage and forensic evidence” pointed towards a mechanical issue with the vehicle as the reason for the window breaking.
According to The Guardian, the editor of Private Eye was riding in a black taxi in Soho on Tuesday morning when a bullet struck the vehicle, near the location of the satirical magazine's office.
Both Mr. Hislop and the driver, who notified the police about the incident, were unharmed.
The car has been sent for additional inspection.
According to a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police, the driver and the passenger have been informed about the results of the investigation.
Mr. Hislop has served as the editor of Private Eye since 1986.
He also serves as a team captain on the popular BBC comedy quiz show, Have I Got News For You, which has been airing for many years.
