Matchzone: Rangers (H) - Kilmarnock FC

Rangers

Kilmarnock lost the game against Rangers even though they scored the first goal.

Danny Armstrong managed to score for the Ayrshire team in just 11 minutes, putting the hosts in the lead by one goal at halftime.

Nevertheless, a moment of chaos occurred when James Tavernier and Tom Lawrence scored, resulting in Glasgow's team earning three points.

Five minutes into the game, Ross McCausland made a fantastic run down the wing and managed to get into the box. He then passed the ball to Fabio Silva who took a shot at the goal, but unfortunately, it was blocked by the opposing team and resulted in a corner. The visitors had an excellent opportunity to score but were unsuccessful.

During the designated play, Connor Goldson made a mighty header towards the net, but Will Dennis made an impressive save to prevent the opposing team from gaining an advantage in the score.

Liam Donnelly believed that he had given the Ayrshire team the lead by powerfully heading the ball from a pass by Liam Polworth, but unfortunately it missed the target by a small margin.

Eleven minutes into the game, Killie was given a penalty because John Lundstram touched the ball in the penalty box. David Dickinson made a quick decision to award the penalty kick.

Armstrong confidently aimed for the center of the goal, while Jack Butland was unable to stop the ball as he dove towards his right.

18 minutes into the game, Oscar Cortes attempted a far-off shot, but Dennis managed to deflect it away from the post for a corner kick.

Polworth came close to achieving something impressive by dashing towards the goal with nobody else in the attacking area. Nevertheless, Butland was fast enough to come out of his position to get rid of the threat. Diomande seemed to have given the midfielder a tug, but the referee, Dickinson, didn't think so.

In the blog post, it was mentioned that Matty Kennedy came really close to increasing Killie's score right after the first half. He took a quick shot, but Butland made an impressive save by getting down low.

The game experienced a dramatic change just shy of the hour mark during a brief four minute interval.

In the 55th minute, the captain of Gers, Tavernier, scored a goal from afar, which made their side level. Then, just four minutes later, Lawrence managed to curl the ball into the corner of the goal.

Cyriel Dessers came very close to scoring another goal for Rangers. He moved quickly towards the near post from a corner and headed the ball towards the goal area. Fortunately for Kilmarnock, the ball hit the crossbar instead of going into the net.

In the 68th minute, Kennedy took a shot on goal from the corner of the field with much force. However, Butland quickly grabbed it with open arms.

During the 79th minute, Diomande attempted to curve a shot towards the goal, but unfortunately, it missed the target.

The Killie team started shouting for a penalty when Liam Donnelly was tackled inside the penalty box. However, Dickinson, the referee, ignored their request and refused to give them the penalty.

The final result of the game between Kilmarnock and Rangers was Rangers 2, Kilmarnock 1.

The squad members for the recent match were Dennis, Mayo, Wright, Findlay, Ndaba, Armstrong (who was replaced by McKenzie in the 83rd minute), Polworth (substituted by Balagizi also in the 83rd minute), Donnelly (who was swapped for Watson in the 83rd minute), Kennedy, Watkins (who was replaced by Stewart in the 75th minute) and Vassell (who was switched out for Van Veen in the 75th minute).
