Prince William Mindhouse, ITV homeless doc
Prince William and The Royal Foundation's Homewards initiative, a program lasting for five years with the goal of showing that homelessness can be eradicated, will be highlighted in a special two-part ITV documentary series.
Prince William will be featured in a new documentary called "We Can End Homelessness [w/t]," which will show viewers a unique, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the first year of the Homewards programme. The documentary will showcase Prince William as he introduces Homewards initiatives all over the nation, and will highlight the stories of individuals who are currently homeless or who have personal experience with homelessness. In addition, the documentary will include appearances from prominent supporters of the programme and leaders of various projects happening throughout the UK.
The Royal Foundation has announced Homewards as a program that will span over five years with the goal of proving that homelessness can be eliminated by partnering with six locations in the UK and making collaboration a central part of the solution.
The two-part series was funded by ITV under the direction of Jo Clinton-Davis, who is in charge of factual content, and Sue Murphy, the head of entertainment based on facts. Mindhouse produced the series, with BAFTA-winning Director Leo Burley at the helm and Arron Fellows serving as an executive producer. Look out for it on ITV1 and ITVX this fall.
Clinton-Davis expressed that they are excited to have access to the behind-the-scenes aspects of this project led by Prince William and his team. They aim to provide viewers with an exclusive look at how they are addressing a significant issue that impacts many people in the UK.
Burley mentioned that Leo had shared about their experiences following Prince William and The Royal Foundation as they documented the first year of the Homewards program. Throughout this time, they heard touching stories from individuals all over the country who were dealing with homelessness. Whether it was people living on the streets in Newport, families in temporary housing in Sheffield, or young individuals facing homelessness in Aberdeen, the documentary showcased the reality of homelessness in the UK today. They worked with individuals who never thought they would be in a situation without a place to call home. Despite the challenges, everyone they interviewed appreciated the attention that Prince William and Homewards were bringing to the homelessness crisis in the UK.
Amanda Berry, CEO of The Royal Foundation, said that TV can make people think differently. Homelessness may seem impossible to stop, but by showing real stories and people helping, we can motivate others to do something. This documentary will show how we can work together to end homelessness.
