Paris 2024 shooting: All results as Team GB’s Nathan Hales takes men's trap gold with new Olympic record
British competitor Nathan Hales achieved first place in the men's trap event, setting a new Olympic record at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on July 30th.
During his debut at the Olympics, Hales, the current world record holder, wowed the audience with an impressive performance, becoming the first British man to clinch gold in the men's trap event since 1968.
Hales scored 48 out of 50 shots, surpassing the old Olympic record of 43.
The athlete from China, Qi Ying, won the second-place silver medal with a total score of 44 in a close competition against the British athlete. Guatemala's Jean Pierre Brol Cardenas took home the bronze medal. Brol Cardenas' podium finish marks him as the second athlete from Guatemala to ever win an Olympic medal.
