Suni Lee, the newest US gymnast, has joined in on the drama with MyKayla Skinner while Simone Biles continues to have conflicts with their former Olympic teammate.
Biles and Lee were the top performers for the USA team in the teams final at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday, helping secure their first gold medals of the Games with a standout score of 171.296.
Following her victory, Biles immediately jumped in to support her teammate while also calling out Skinner, a former teammate who caused a stir by criticizing the current American team's commitment and dedication.
The photo shows the eight-time Olympic medalist, along with Jordan Chiles, Hezly Rivera, Jade Carey, and Lee, holding up a USA flag. The caption reads: "No talent, lazy, Olympic champions."
In a display of solidarity with Biles, Lee joined her American teammate in teasing Skinner by commenting: "Raise a finger if Simone Biles just owned you" along with a hand emoji.
Suni Lee spoke out against MyKayla Skinner, joining the ranks of USA gymnasts criticizing their former Olympic teammate Simone Biles.
Biles criticized Skinner (shown in the picture) after the former gymnast raised doubts about the dedication of the USA team.
The 21-year-old seemed to be mentioning a popular trend on TikTok where users lower a finger when a statement applies to them.
Jordan Chiles, who is on the same team as Biles and Lee, also commented with the phrase: 'and that's a fact!!'
Skinner shared her contentious comments in a YouTube video that has since been removed.
MyKayla expressed in the video that she believes the level of talent and depth in gymnastics has decreased since Simone Biles. She won a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The girls simply lack the motivation to work hard.
Even though Skinner didn't include her in the harsh evaluation, Biles sparked a conflict with her former gymnastics friend by seemingly responding to her on social media during that period.
The famous American Olympic athlete criticized her indirectly by commenting on social media: 'Not everyone needs to constantly speak out and have a public presence'.
Biles mentioned Skinner's unpopular opinion following their victory at the Olympic teams on Tuesday.
Lee supported her teammate in the online discussion by proposing that she "finished off" Skinner.
Both Lee and Biles motivated the USA team to win the team final at the Paris Games earlier this week.
Following her recent criticism on Instagram, Chiles shared that Skinner has decided to block Biles on the social media site.
Chiles posted a picture of Skinner's empty Instagram account on a cellphone and wrote: "This is what happens when she blocks Simone."
Biles mentioned on X that she can't see Skinner's social media posts anymore, saying: 'Oops, I've been blocked.'
Other current and former members of Team USA also join in teasing Skinner after her gold medal victory on Tuesday. Even the renowned McKayla Maroney from USA gymnastics has gotten involved in the rivalry.
"This is truly legendary," Maroney stated on Instagram regarding Biles' post. "[Skinner] messed around and found out for real."
Maroney playfully mentioned how funny it was to have the same name as Skinner.
Biles and Skinner have been acquainted for a while and used to get along with each other.
However, the American icon indicated on Wednesday that her ex-partner has prevented her from advancing.
Biles' teammate Chiles posted a picture on social media that featured Skinner's empty Instagram profile.
It seems like I have to say sorry just to regain trust in my name, she penned.
Even though they weren't best buddies, Biles and Skinner have been acquainted for a long time and got along well in the past. They first met when they both competed for the USA at the 2014 World Championships in Nanning.
Both athletes managed to win Olympic medals in Tokyo after seven years, even though Biles had to withdraw from multiple events due to experiencing the 'twisties' - a mental obstacle that causes a gymnast to lose control of their body while performing a twisting skill in the air.
Skinner won the silver medal in the vault event while Biles stepped aside, making it one of her top accomplishments in gymnastics alongside her four gold medals from the World Championships.
