How Simone Biles and MyKayla Skinner went from Olympics teammates to bitter enemies after USA icon's...

Following their victory in Paris, Simone Biles felt compelled to support her Olympic teammates while also taking a dig at a former teammate.

Biles led the USA to win in the gymnastics team final, marking the first time they have claimed victory since 2008. Their impressive score of 171.296 was enough to outperform Italy and Brazil, who were their closest competitors.

Only a few hours later, the 27-year-old criticized her former teammate MyKayla Skinner while praising the current team's amazing achievements on Instagram.

Biles posted a picture of herself, Jordan Chiles, Hezly Rivera, Jade Carey, and Suni Lee raising the American flag with the caption: "Not good at sports, unmotivated, Olympic gold medalists."

The snarky comment was clearly a jab at Skinner, who stirred up controversy by casting doubt on the team's commitment and effort for the Olympics this year.

Simone Biles criticized former Olympic teammate MyKayla Skinner on Instagram recently.

"Other than Simone, I don't think the skill level and the variety are the same as they used to be," MyKayla, who achieved a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, mentioned in a YouTube video that has since been removed.

The girls simply lack the attitude towards work.

Even though Skinner did not invite her to participate in that harsh evaluation, Biles sparked a conflict with her former gymnastics friend by seemingly responding to her on social networking sites during that period.

The Olympic star from the United States made a subtle criticism of Skinner by posting on Threads: 'not everyone requires a microphone and a stage'.

She, along with several other gymnasts like Chiles, Lee, and Carey, also unfollowed Skinner on social media following her remarks.

Although they weren't particularly close, Biles and Skinner have been acquainted for a while and used to get along after both competing for the USA at the 2014 World Championships in Nanning.

Biles mentioned Skinner's divisive opinion on the current USA gymnastics squad following their win of the gold medal on Tuesday.

MyKayla remarked that the team is missing a strong dedication to their work, but she made sure to leave Simone out of her criticism.

Biles was upset by her former teammate's comments even though she was not directly criticized.

Both of them won Olympic medals in Tokyo after seven years. Biles had to pull out of some events because of the 'twisties', which is when a gymnast loses control of their body during a twisting skill in midair.

Skinner received a silver medal in the vault event when Biles stepped aside, which was a significant accomplishment for her as a gymnast. This achievement comes after she also won four gold medals in the World Championships.

However, three years later, the gymnastic pair who used to see each other as friends and teammates are now distant and cold towards each other.

When Biles made a subtle criticism towards her earlier in the month, Skinner changed her stance by saying that her words were misunderstood and not presented accurately.

"I think many of you have misunderstood or misinterpreted what I was trying to say," she commented on Instagram.

Many of the things I mentioned were not specifically about the current team. I have a deep love and admiration for all the girls who contributed and I am incredibly proud of them.

Returning to my own gym, I noticed a change in the way we approach our work compared to the time when we trained under Marta Karolyi. I am not defending Marta or justifying her actions, I am simply pointing out the differences in the training atmosphere.

Even though they weren't the best of friends, Biles and Skinner have been acquainted with each other for a long time. They were seen together heading to the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Biles indirectly criticized her former gymnastics friend by making a subtle comment earlier in the month.

Skinner went online and praised the USA team for their accomplishments in Paris.

After the team won in Paris, Biles made it clear that she doesn't believe that excuse by subtly criticizing the former USA star.

Another retired American gymnast, McKayla Maroney, supported her in the disagreement with Skinner by criticizing Skinner on Instagram.

Maroney remarked that Biles' post was truly iconic and that she experimented and found out the truth for herself.

Maroney made a playful remark about having the same name as Skinner. It seems like he felt the need to say sorry just to use his own first name.

Skinner continued to rejoice in their gold-medal win on Tuesday, despite the ongoing feud with Biles and the rest of the USA team.

The athlete who has won the world championship three times shared a photo of the team wearing their medals on her Instagram story, along with three heart emojis.

However, it is uncertain whether their friendship has been damaged irreparably.
