Even though Halloween has just passed, Mariah Carey has already commenced the holiday season by announcing 1 November as the beginning of Christmas.
Carey is famously connected to the holiday season and is considered the dominating figure of festive celebrations. This association began with the release of her single "All I Want For Christmas Is You" in 1994, which has since gained immense popularity and is now one of the most prominent Christmas songs ever made.
Because of this, supporters are now accustomed to seeing Carey publicly proclaiming the start of Christmastime as soon as Halloween ends. In past times, she has destroyed pumpkins and converted from a witch to Santa Claus in order to commemorate the holiday season.
At the stroke of 12 o'clock in the morning on Wednesday (1st November), Carey posted a new video where she was wearing a costume of Regina George from the movie Mean Girls which was for Halloween. The video displayed a bank safe which was covered in ice with the clock indicating that it was still 11:59 PM on the evening of 31 October.
At the stroke of midnight, the vault door opened and revealed Carey who was trapped in a block of ice and dressed in red. The vicinity was surrounded by individuals who were dressed in Halloween costumes, with pumpkin-shaped heads and Ghostface masks, who were seen blowing hair dryers on the ice. This was a reference to a meme about Carey hibernating for ten months of the year and only needing to be "defrosted" for November and December.
After a while, Carey found a way to free herself by singing the phrase, "It's time," at a very high pitch, which shattered the ice. Without delay, a flurry of snow, holiday gifts, and energetic individuals eager for Christmas merriment surround Carey as the tune "All I Want For Christmas Is You" fills the air.
Carey's Christmas song was not an instant hit when it was first released 29 years ago. Even though it managed to reach No. 2 in the UK, it missed out on being crowned the Christmas No. 1 to East 17's "Stay Another Day". In the US, it only charted once in the span of 18 years, securing the No. 83 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2000. However, over time, the song has become a popular Christmas classic.
Although Love Actually helped make Carey's song famous in 2003, it wasn't until the 2010s when streaming and Christmas playlists became popular that it became impossible to avoid.
In 2012, the song "All I Want For Christmas Is You" made a comeback on the music charts in the United States, landing at the 21st spot. Every year since then, it has been gradually climbing up the ranks. Starting from 2019, the song has reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the Christmas season, and finally made it to the top spot in the UK chart the same year.

Back in December 2021, the tune reached a groundbreaking achievement in the world of pop music by being the sole holiday track to receive the RIAA's Diamond Award. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the impressive feat of having 10 million sales and streaming units strictly in the United States.
Underneath the video by Carey, where she proclaimed the commencement of "Mariah season", enthusiasts rejoiced over the homecoming of Carey and the festive mood of Christmas.
A person commented that November 1st should be a day off for everyone in honor of Mariah's yearly announcement.
Somebody made a joke, saying that she's not only good at celebrating Christmas but she's also starting to take over Halloween slowly.
