Lionesses qualify for Euro 2025 after 0-0 draw against Sweden

The Lionesses secured a spot in the European Championships by playing to a 0-0 draw in Sweden.

The draw in Gothenburg helped them earn the point they needed to officially secure their spot in the tournament next year.

Yet, the match was mostly unexciting and resulted in England not being able to score for the first time in almost a year.

The goalkeeper from Sweden only had to stop two shots during the game - one from Lucy Bronze that went straight to Zecira Musovic, and two close attempts from Georgia Stanway.

In the meantime, sub Rosa Kafaji was unfortunate to not receive a penalty in the second half for the Swedes following a challenge from Leah Williamson.

The captain of the England team, Williamson, said in an interview with ITV Sport: "They switched up their tactics, bringing in different players who posed new challenges like height, but I believe we held our ground and stuck to our game plan."

In the second half, we were unable to execute our desired style of play in football, leading to increased pressure on our team.

England will enter the tournament in Switzerland next summer as the reigning champions, but they will have to wait until December to find out which group they will be placed in.
