Katie Price: Warrant issued for arrest of former model
The ex-celebrity model did not reply to HM Revenue & Customs about her owed money, as mentioned in court.
Katie Price has an arrest warrant out for her because she didn't go to court for her bankruptcy case.
Judge Catherine Burton from the Insolvency and Companies Court stated that Ms Price had been given explicit warnings that she must be present at the hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
The previous model known for her glamorous image had failed to reply to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) regarding her unpaid taxes, as reported in court.
HMRC requested payment last October.
An earlier court hearing judge warned the former model that she might be arrested if she didn't show up for future court dates. The judge also stated that proof must be presented if she is unable to attend.
Announcing the arrest warrant on Tuesday, Judge Burton stated that Ms. Price did not show up for the hearing and did not give a reason for her absence.
I believe it is important for the court to issue a warrant for the arrest of Ms. Price.
"There is no valid reason for her absence at today's court session," she declared.
Her absence today doesn't matter.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Ms. Price had supposedly gone to Turkey. This information was based on a previous Instagram post that has since been removed, showing her eating a sandwich made of crisps while on a plane.
Judge Burton stated that the decision to not issue an arrest warrant for Ms. Price was not made lightly. He explained that she had only given partial cooperation and had not provided essential information regarding her bankruptcies.
Price initially declared bankruptcy in 2019 due to outstanding debts and faced another bankruptcy in March of last year for an unpaid tax bill of £761,994.05.
In February, Price was instructed to give up 40% of her earnings from the adult content platform OnlyFans for the next three years due to a different argument about outstanding debts.
Ms Price expressed her frustration in October of last year, stating that she was tired of receiving threats of legal action.
Last October, Ms. Price expressed her frustration with the constant threats of legal action and declared that she was willing to go to prison just to put an end to it all.
On Tuesday, she was supposed to answer questions about her money situation in court. Barrister Darragh Connell said in written documents that there is still a lot of important information missing about how much money she makes and what assets she owns.
The court was also set to consider a request from the trustee regarding Ms. Price's cars.
Mr. Connell informed the court that the trustee has no knowledge of her current location.
He stated that Ms. Price had mentioned that she was going to give some of her cars to the trustee so she could work on paying off the remaining amount of her bankruptcies. This includes her "pink Range Rover that has a personalized license plate with the bankrupt's initials."
However, according to Mr. Connell, the court was informed that the bankrupt did not return the vehicles as promised. He emphasized that it was clear that the vehicles would not be returned by the bankrupt.
He mentioned that Ms. Price would not be held in jail for a long time, but would be kept in custody to make sure she shows up for her next court date.
He stated that her freedom is at risk, but unfortunately we have reached a dead end concerning this issue.
Mr. Connell mentioned in his written statements that Ms. Price's request to attend was first made in January of last year, but it has been postponed several times since then.
He also mentioned that Ms. Price did not request to participate in Tuesday's hearing virtually and did not request for it to be postponed.
