Leeds sign Joe Rothwell on season-long loan from Bournemouth
Leeds United have finalized the transfer of midfielder Joe Rothwell on a loan deal for the entire season from Bournemouth.
Rothwell, who is 29 years old, signed with Bournemouth for no cost after leaving Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2022. Bournemouth had just been promoted to the Premier League.
The player from England played in 35 games over two seasons with the team, and he played a key role in helping Bournemouth stay in the Premier League.
He played for Southampton on loan during the second half of the 2023-24 season. He scored four goals and made one assist in 20 games, which helped the team move up from the Championship to the top league.
He didn't get to play in Southampton's win over Leeds in the play-off final at Wembley in May.
If everything goes as planned, Rothwell will be the third player to join Leeds this summer. Joe Rodon from Tottenham Hotspur and Alex Cairns from Salford City have already joined the team.
The full ownership of Elland Road has been returned to Leeds.
