The boys' football team from a school in Swindon was sent to participate in a game at a huge European club.

The Highworth Warneford School on Shrivenham Road went on a journey to Germany to explore the birthplace of FC Bayern Munich.

The journey began on Wednesday, October 18th with 50 boys and six staff members staying in Munich's Olympic Park area. Their stay in Munich lasted until Tuesday, October 24th.

The group from Swindon engaged in four training classes with Bayern coaches, where three occurred at the Säbener Straße, which is the training location for the first team.

The male participants began their training on the initial day on a sports field adjacent to the senior players' location, and had the privilege of seeing the skipper of the English national team, Harry Kane.

The lads observed a couple of games such as the Bayern Munich reserve team versus RB Salzburg, and in addition, they battled against three German opponents.

The under 13s team emerged victorious with a score of 6-3 against Interkulturale, while the under 14s outplayed their opponents scoring 7 goals against Interkulturale's 1. However, the under 16s were defeated by the Bayern Munich Global Academy, losing with a score of 4-0.

According to Deputy Head of PE David Gibbons, the teaching staff was completely blown away by the wide variety and high caliber of experiences that were made available to their students.

We were very moved by the devotion of the Bayern trainers towards our students. They showed such dedication that they stayed after their regular sessions to encourage the players during their matches.
