Erling Haaland 'like a League Two player': Roy Keane's withering analysis of Man City striker

Haaland

After Manchester City and Arsenal's goalless draw, Roy Keane remarked that Erling Haaland's football skills were as good as those of a football player in the fourth-tier league.

This season, Haaland has managed to score a total of 18 goals in the Premier League, making him the leading scorer and giving him the chance to potentially win the golden boot for the second year in a row. Unfortunately, on Easter Sunday, a pundit was not impressed with Haaland's abilities beyond scoring goals.

During a Sky Sports interview, Keane stated that the quality of the player's overall performance is extremely low. This is not just regarding his performance today, but also in his ability to pass, head the ball or perform other basic moves. Although the player is excellent in front of the goal, his general gameplay falls short, especially for a player of his caliber.

The way he plays is similar to a player from the League Two. He needs to enhance his overall performance, but he will get better in the upcoming years. He is indeed an outstanding forward player, but he has to work on his skills in different areas of the field.

With only six minutes left in the game, something happened that made Keane really angry. Haaland managed to move away from his opponent and had an opportunity to score by guiding the ball in from a corner kick. However, he failed to make proper contact with the ball and it just brushed past his studs, rolling out for an Arsenal goal kick. You can see it happen in the video below.

Micah Richards commented that Haaland is an unusual player today. Although he is skilled in finishing, he struggles with his build-up and holding of the ball. There are moments where he fails to connect with the ball, suggesting a lapse in concentration.

Liverpool remains at the top spot after a draw in Manchester, while Arsenal sits two points behind. City trails with one extra point, but they have not won against any top-five teams in this season yet. Keane observed that their overall performance against Arsenal hints that their position as top title contenders is being questioned.

It's quite unexpected that City hasn't been able to secure victories against the top five teams. Winning four consecutive leagues is an unprecedented feat, and it's because of the constant pressure to perform every single week.

It seems that something is not quite right with City. There have been a lot of injuries and high pressures in recent years. I don't want to seem like I'm giving up hope for City, but it's becoming apparent that these factors have had an impact on their performance in important matches this season.
