Glastonbury tickets finally go on sale: Here's what you need to know

Glastonbury tickets

Tonight, the initial batch of tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2024 will finally become available for purchase, following an unexpected setback and a flurry of unverified speculations.

After a postponement of two weeks, the initial release of Glastonbury tickets becomes available tonight.

In the usual fashion, the initial ticket sales will be divided amongst two events. The introductory event will occur on November 16th at 6pm GMT, and it will entail tickets for the festival with coach transportation packages. The remaining tickets for general admission will become available on Sunday, November 19th at 9am GMT.

At first, the organizers scheduled the ticket sales to happen on November 2nd and November 5th. However, those who planned to attend the festival had to register beforehand. Glastonbury decided to delay the two sales for two weeks, just four hours before the coach ticket sale on November 2nd. They explained that numerous fans reported having lost their registrations.

Before the tickets went on sale, Glastonbury announced that it was going to tidy up its records. Any email addresses registered prior to 2020 were erased by October 2nd and there was a deadline of October 30th to register again.

According to Glastonbury, several supporters were not informed of this before the deadline and the sale was postponed "to be just for those people".

The festival made a very unexpected decision, as there were 2.5 million people vying for only 210,000 tickets for the upcoming 2023 edition.

During the week after the delay was announced, the Daily Mail, a British tabloid, published a rumor about who would be headlining the festival. According to the article, an anonymous source from the festival confirmed that Madonna, Dua Lipa, and Coldplay would take the stage at the impressive Pyramid Stage in June 2024.

Last year, festival co-organiser Emily Eavis made statements that suggested Madonna and Dua Lipa would be suitable headliners for the event. This suggestion has now been put forward.

Following the 2023 festival's predominantly male line-up, Eavis received negative feedback, prompting her to explain that a female headliner had been planned but dropped out last minute. She also announced that the 2024 festival would feature two female headliners, both of whom would be first-timers. Madonna and Dua Lipa were suggested as possible candidates for the role.

Despite that, Eavis promptly disregarded the Mail's article.

On X, she mentioned that the report regarding our final headliners is false. Furthermore, she added that we are continually laboring on finalizing the list of performers.

To be honest, the information in the article might not be accurate. It's possible that Coldplay won't be the main performer, or that Dua Lipa won't actually have the top billing and instead perform as a supporting act. It's still possible that the popular female singer may show up.
