Tom Brady posted a mysterious message on social media just a few hours after news broke that his former wife, Gisele Bündchen, is expecting a baby.
The 44-year-old Brazilian supermodel is looking forward to welcoming her first baby with her partner, Joaquim Valente.
On Monday, October 28, a source shared with People that the couple, who began their relationship in June 2023, is “excited about this new phase in their lives and eager to establish a calm and nurturing atmosphere for everyone in the family.”
On that same day, the former NFL player posted a peaceful sunset picture on his Instagram Story, featuring The Chicks' rendition of Fleetwood Mac's classic track, "Landslide." He added three red heart emojis to the post, with the poignant lyrics by Stevie Nicks overlaying the image.
“Oh mirror in the sky, what is love? / Can the child within my heart rise above? / Can I navigate the shifting ocean currents?” the song expresses.
Although the former quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't provide any details about his enigmatic message, it quickly became apparent that people online speculated it might be a reaction to Bündchen's announcement about her pregnancy.
"One user shared a screenshot of Tom Brady's post and commented on X/Twitter, 'I can't believe Tom Brady is sharing The Chicks' cover of 'Landslide' right after it was revealed that Gisele Bündchen is expecting a baby with her attractive jiu-jitsu instructor boyfriend.'"
"Seeing Tom Brady share a song by The Chicks is definitely not something I expected to happen in 2024," commented another user.
Another user playfully remarked, "That's definitely me, to be honest."
Brady and Bündchen completed their divorce in October 2022 after being married for 13 years. The two, who have two children, made the choice to split after careful thought.
"Indeed, it's a tough and challenging experience, similar to what countless individuals face every day across the globe," Brady mentioned in a social media post at that moment. "Nevertheless, we genuinely hope for the best for each other as we embark on the new journeys in our lives that are still to come."
In her statement, the Victoria’s Secret model admitted that ending a marriage is always a tough choice, but she feels that she and Brady have just “drifted apart.”
"Although it's certainly tough to experience something like this, I'm grateful for the moments we shared and genuinely wish Tom nothing but the best," she expressed. She also mentioned that they would keep working together as co-parents to provide their children with the love, care, and attention they need and deserve.
There were rumors that the former New England Patriots player and the model were possibly heading for a divorce after Brady chose to come out of retirement from the NFL in March 2022, just a month after he had initially announced he was stepping away from the game. Bündchen fueled these rumors when she mentioned in an interview with Elle that she feels she has already done her share in supporting her husband and their family.
"I’ve played my role by supporting Tom. I relocated to Boston and dedicated myself to building a nurturing space for my kids to thrive while also backing him and his ambitions," she stated in a September 2022 feature. "Watching my children flourish into wonderful individuals, seeing him thrive and find satisfaction in his work – that truly brings me joy."
"At this stage in my life, I believe I've succeeded in that aspect," Bündchen remarked. "Now, it's my time to shine. I won't be stuck in this low point indefinitely."
Bündchen's upcoming baby will be Valente's first child, but she and Brady are already parents to their son Benjamin, who is 14, and daughter Vivian, who is 11. After their divorce, they decided to co-parent, sharing custody of their kids. In addition to Benjamin and Vivian, Brady also has a 17-year-old son named Jack with his former partner, Bridget Moynahan.
