Football tribute to Keaton Slater, 12, killed in hit-and-run
A football team has honored a 12-year-old boy who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run accident in Coventry.
Keaton Slater's family walked alongside both teams as Leamington FC faced off against a Coventry City academy team in a friendly match during pre-season on Saturday.
Before the football game started, a moment of silence was held to honor the Coventry City supporter who passed away after being hit by a BMW on Radford Road in June.
Leamington FC said the game was a suitable way for the football community to unite in honor of Keaton. His parents received a donation of around £300 at the conclusion of the match.
The 12-year-old was known for being a lovely and cheerful child, and his passing resulted in a wave of sadness and mourning among the local residents.
An internet campaign to support Keaton's family has collected close to £60,000 since it started.
A charity is offering a prize of up to £10,000 for any details regarding the main suspect in the accident.
West Midlands Police stated that they are still investigating leads regarding Dolars Aleksanders, age 21, who is believed to be responsible for a fatal accident due to reckless driving.
Specially skilled officers are still assisting Keaton's family, as mentioned by the police department.
