Everton victorious on Dyche's return to Burnley

Everton

Amadou Onana netted his second goal this season, after his previous one was also against Burnley during the Carabao Cup.

As his team, Everton, secured their fourth consecutive victory in the Premier League, Manager Sean Dyche was quite pleased with his triumphant return to Burnley.

For nearly a decade, Dyche ran the show at Turf Moor until he was fired last year. When his team, the Toffees, played, they didn't let emotions get in the way and simply dominated their opponents, putting a comfortable seven-point buffer between themselves and relegation.

James Trafford displayed exceptional goalkeeping skills as he prevented Dominic Calvert-Lewin's header from entering the net. However, during the succeeding corner, Amadou Onana outdid the Burnley goalkeeper by jumping higher and scoring the first goal from Dwight McNeil's cross.

After 25 minutes, the visitors increased their advantage by taking a 2-0 lead. Michael Keane hit the ball into the goal with his second attempt after Trafford saved his initial shot, and Dara O'Shea was unable to clear the deflected ball.

In the second half, Burnley attempted to make a comeback with Zeki Amdouni forcing Jordan Pickford to make a great save and Sander Berge hitting the top bar. Unfortunately, things are not going well for the team this season as they remain at the second from last position and are now six points away from ensuring their safety.

Burnley's Victorious Moment

Dyche managed Burnley FC for more than 400 matches and led them to promotion twice from the second-tier league. However, he was sacked in April 2022 and the club subsequently suffered relegation once more.

Last month, Everton received a penalty of losing 10 points due to their violation of Premier League financial regulations. Many people were concerned that this punishment would damage the team's spirit and lead to their downfall to a lower league, along with their coach.

Instead of being stuck in a rut, Dyche has reinvigorated his team's season. Their impressive performance has persisted, with the team winning 10 out of their previous 14 matches across all competitions. As a result, they have climbed up to the 16th spot in the standings.

They have won eight matches in the top league this season, which is the same number they won the whole of last season. This shows how much they have improved under Dyche.

It was not just Burnley's previous coach who caused them trouble, but also two ex-Clarets players. McNeil, who missed a close attempt when the score was tied, assisted with the first goal. Keane scored the second goal.

Keane, who plays in the centre-half position, had a chance to score another goal in the second half but hit the post when he was close to the net. Despite this, Everton managed to keep a clean sheet for the fourth game in a row. In fact, only two teams (Liverpool and Arsenal) have conceded fewer goals than Everton so far this season.

Burnley Facing A Daunting Future

The Burnley club is fully backing their manager, Vincent Kompany, but there is an increasing worry about the path the season is taking. The club's chairman, Alan Pace, observed the most recent defeat from the audience and appears to have concerns.

This season, they have only managed to win two out of their 17 games in the Premier League. They are currently positioned above Sheffield United in the league table based on their goal difference alone, as both clubs are struggling.

Their performance at home has been the most disappointing among all teams in the tournament, with just one victory achieved in Turf Moor and losing the remaining eight matches. Moreover, no team has managed to make it through the Premier League with just eight points at this point of the season.

During the first half of the game, Burnley was unable to make a successful shot on target against Pickford. At halftime, they were already trailing by two goals. The only moment of hope for Burnley fans came when Amdouni tried a long-range shot, but it was saved by the English goalkeeper.

The Clarets are headed to Fulham for their next match on December 23rd with the goal of securing three points. This is to ensure that they do not have a gloomy Christmas and to give them a chance at avoiding relegation back to the Championship.
