Elon Musk Feeds Viral Conspiracy Theory That Patriot Front Actually ‘Feds’

A picture, taken previously, shows individuals wearing the symbol of the extreme white nationalist organization known as Patriot Front situated in front of the Boston Public Library at Copley Square on July 2, 2022, in Boston. The image was captured by Michael Dwyer for the Associated Press.

Over the weekend, a group known as Patriot Front, made up of individuals who believe in the superiority of whites, walked the streets of New York City. Videos of their march surfaced on various social media platforms, prompting some users to claim, without proof, that the FBI invented the group to create chaos within the nation. The owner of X, Elon Musk, was among those who embraced this theory, going so far as to cast doubt on a picture which showed Patriot Front supporters being detained in 2022.

"It's strange. Why didn't they remove the mask after the arrest?" Musk posted on his Twitter account on Saturday, answering a user going by the name Champagne Joshi.

Joshi mentioned the hate group as "Fed Front" and questioned in a post, "Have you ever witnessed a bunch of people with masks, all dressed alike, locked up, not even one removing their mask? This is intended for those who are easily fooled and believe that these individuals are 'white supremacists' simply because it supports their beliefs and it's a year of voting."

However, there is no proof that Patriot Front has any agenda other than promoting white supremacy, as defined by the ADL. Even though some members of the group cover their faces, the public has been able to identify many of them in the past few years. As a matter of fact, the picture that Musk commented on last Saturday was from the arrest of 31 Patriot Front members in Idaho in 2022. These individuals were suspected of plotting to cause trouble during an LGBT Pride event that was scheduled to happen in Coeur d'Alene.

Due to the detentions, the uncovering of the identities of 31 Patriot Front associates took place. And till now, no reliable proof has been put forth to indicate that any of those individuals were federal government operatives.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office has shared images of 31 people who belong to the white supremacist group Patriot Front. The group members were arrested when they were caught hiding in a U-Haul truck, along with riot gear, near an LGBTQ pride event in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The incident occurred on June 11, 2022. The images include the names of the group members that were detained. The individuals identified in the photograph are Jared Boyce, Nathan Brenner, Colton Brown, Josiah Buster, Mishael Buster, Devin Center, Dylan Corio, Winston Durham, Garret Garland, Branden Haney, Richard Jessop, James Julius Johnson, James Michael Johnson, Connor Moran, Kieran Morris, Lawrence Norman, Justin O'leary, Cameron Pruitt, Forrest Rankin, Thomas Rousseau, Conor Ryan, Spencer Simpson, Alexander Sisenstein, Derek Smith, Dakota Tabler, Steven Tucker, Wesley Van Horn, Mitchell Wagner, Nathaniel Whitfield, Graham Whitsom, and Robert Whitted. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office shared these images to inform people and raise awareness about the arrested individuals and their connection to the white supremacist group.

According to KREM2, local news station in Idaho, a minimum of seven members from Patriot Front were deemed guilty of planning a protest, with 15 others confessing to their charges. Two of the Patriot Front members were not charged because of dismissal.

The ADL reports that Patriot Front seeks to establish a country solely for white individuals and their agendas include various far-right stances such as anti-Semitism, resistance to LGBT rights, and endorsement for banning abortions. The organization began in 2017 and has orchestrated demonstrations in different urban centers across the nation. During these events, members dress in khaki and blue attire and often camouflage their faces with white masks, which has fueled speculation online that they are government officials.

Many prominent right-wing figures on X argue that Patriot Front is a fraudulent organization, claiming that its ultimate objective is to create chaos and divide communities on the basis of race. Jesse Kelly, a radio personality known for his conservative views, recently made comments echoing this perspective on Saturday, expressing the common belief that Patriot Front is unlikely to be a legitimate group.

On Saturday, Kelly tweeted something interesting. She said that everyone already knows that the people doing this are federal agents. The real question is, why are they doing it? We should think about this carefully because the answer might not be something we want to hear.

Based on the evidence we have seen in the recent Idaho arrests, it is clear that Patriot Front is indeed a hate group with actual members. At this moment in time, we have no reason to doubt that their ultimate goal is to establish a nation solely for white individuals. They have shown hostility towards anyone who opposes their beliefs and values. We will continue to gather more information as it becomes available.

There were inquiries sent to X regarding Elon Musk on Saturday but no response was received. If any update becomes available, I will make sure to amend this post.
