Sheikha Mahra, daughter of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, shared on her Instagram that she plans to end her marriage.

Sheikha Mahra and her spouse, Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, tied the knot in April 2023 and recently became parents to a baby girl.

However, it seems like the relationship is in trouble after just one year, as Sheikha Mahra posted on social media that she is seeking a divorce.

Both individuals have taken down their wedding photos from their social media accounts.

In her blog post, she hinted at the presence of 'different friends' her husband was focused on, and declared her wish to terminate the marriage.

My letter to my husband: I am letting you know that I am ending our marriage because you are spending time with other people.

"I am ending our marriage three times. Goodbye. From your former spouse."

The daughter of Dubai ruler and United Arab Emirates Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum caused a stir when she shared a photo of herself and her daughter with the message 'just us two'.

In her blog post, Sheikha Mahra also mentioned an ancient Islamic custom known as 'triple talaq', which is no longer valid in the UAE.

In the practice of triple talaq, a man has the power to instantly end his marriage by declaring his decision three times, but this privilege is not extended to women.

The custom has been prohibited in numerous Islamic nations, such as the UAE, and now the couple must seek legal action in order to officially move forward with their divorce.

However, the princess mentioning the tradition might have been her way of clearly conveying her intentions and emotions.

Some individuals first thought that someone had broken into the princess's account, but there have been no signs of this happening after the post was made.

Both families have not said anything publicly about the news so far. However, Sheikha Mahra and Sheikh Mana have both unfollowed each other on Instagram and removed their wedding pictures from their accounts, as reported by the Khaleej Times.

A lot of individuals left comments expressing their good wishes.

Someone commented, "I believe a lot of people are not understanding the significance of her repeating it three times, but it gives more strength to her words. It shows that she is completely finished with the situation."

One more person mentioned: "Every woman should understand her own value."

One person expressed, "Your joy cannot be compromised."

UNILAD has contacted the United Arab Emirates embassy in London and the Dubai government media office for a response.
