Daisy Edgar-Jones says it would be ‘wonderful’ to return to Normal People role
Daisy Edgar-Jones mentioned she would love to come back to her lead role in the popular television show Normal People.
The young actress, 26 years old, became famous for her role as Marianne Sheridan in the TV show. She starred opposite Paul Mescal, 28, who played her romantic partner Connell Waldron. The show is based on a book by Irish writer Sally Rooney.
The romantic love story, which came out on BBC Three in April 2020, centered on the intermittent relationship between the Irish teens, starting from their time in school all the way to their university years.
Edgar-Jones and Mescal caused rumors of a possible continuation of Normal People in May when they hinted on Instagram that they had something to announce, posting a picture of the two of them together.
It was soon announced that they would be selling tickets in a raffle for a unique marathon showing of Normal People to support a good cause.
Talking about the possibility of a second season, Edgar-Jones said to BBC News: "I think that's a question for Sally Rooney. If she's willing to write a new story, anything is possible."
When inquired about the possibility of reprising her role as the intelligent and vocal Marianne, she responded with: "Considering it. Always considering it."
I really like those characters. It would be great to delve into their world once more.
The show became extremely popular during the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and skyrocketed Edgar-Jones and Mescal to international fame.
The actress expressed her gratitude for the opportunities that have come her way since the show aired, stating that she feels fortunate. She believes that the show has helped her and Paul connect with many individuals and filmmakers.
After her role in the movie version of the popular book Where The Crawdads Sing, Edgar-Jones will be seen in the highly anticipated summer movie Twisters, a follow-up to the 1996 hit Twister. She stars alongside actors Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos.
Mescal has also appeared in the romantic drama All Of Us Strangers, alongside Andrew Scott, and received an Academy Award nomination for the father-daughter drama Aftersun.
He is set to appear in the highly anticipated Gladiator II, the follow-up to Ridley Scott's movie featuring Russell Crowe.
