Manchester United exploring deal to sign youth striker Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal
Manchester United are looking into the possibility of signing young striker Chido Obi-Martin now that his time as a schoolboy at Arsenal has come to an end.
The teenager went to United's training grounds at Carrington earlier this week, as the club is in the beginning phases of talking about a potential transfer.
Arsenal presented Obi-Martin with an offer they believed to be reasonable, offering him a scholarship first before transitioning to a professional contract once he turns 17.
In the end, the forward made the decision to leave, and United are one of many teams who are interested, but Manchester City is not in the mix.
Obi-Martin made the move to Arsenal from KB, a Danish team, in 2022 and has shown impressive skills while playing at the youth level.
A young player who has represented both England and Denmark at the junior level, he netted 10 goals in a dominant 14-3 victory for Arsenal's under-16 team against Liverpool in November.
Lately, Obi-Martin scored four goals against both Crystal Palace and Fulham, five against West Ham United, and seven against Norwich City in a game for the under-18s.
Altogether, he scored 29 goals in 17 league games for the under-18 team.
Obi-Martin took part in Denmark's UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification campaign in 2024, where he managed to score two goals in three group stage matches.
