MailOnline has uncovered that Charlie Stayt, the presenter of BBC Breakfast, has been running a business that has been operating at a loss for seven years.

The host of the morning show, who is 61 years old, along with his wife Annie Breckell, aged 58, have been handed a legal document by HM Revenue and Customs. This is because they discovered that they owed £6,409 after submitting the accounts for their business in December of the previous year.

The pair is registered as executives of Stayt Limited. The company's field of work pertains to producing and airing television shows.

According to records, the organization's most recent profitable year was back in 2016 with a meager £173 in assets.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has presented Charlie Stayt and his partner Annie Breckell (shown in the photo) with a legal document requesting action.

Stayt Limited, a company owned by Stayt, has him and his wife Annie listed as directors. The company has also enlisted the services of Hogbens Dunphy Secretaries, a firm of accountants and tax advisors located in the heart of London.

Stayt and his spouse, Annie, possess two fully grown offspring, Phoebe and Jake (depicted).

The duo currently reside in a grandiose four-bedroom abode situated in the South Western region of London. The property was purchased in 2002 for a mere £800,000, but its current value is estimated to be £2.3 million.

From that point on, the financial state of the company has progressively deteriorated. It initially went down to a negative amount of £214 in 2017 and has now escalated to a whopping £6,049. This has caused the government agency to threaten the TV presenter with bankruptcy.

According to official papers from Companies House, the pair received a loan of nearly £100,000 from their company in 2015, stated as a 'director's loan.'

In 2016, the amount was lowered to £74,000. However, the company's financial statements after this time do not mention the 'overdrawn directors' loan account'.

Charlie and his ex-actress spouse Annie reside in a luxurious residence with four bedrooms in South West London, which they acquired in 2002 for £800,000. This residence is worth a whopping £2.3 million.

The parents have two adult kids named Phoebe and Jake. It is believed that both of them are still residing together with their parents.

Even though Charlie is a well-known personality on the BBC, he chooses to maintain privacy when it comes to his personal life. He's not into social media and usually avoids gatherings attended by other famous people.

On the BBC Breakfast sofa, Charlie Stayt is seen beside Naga Munchetty. However, he is currently contending with an issue involving HMRC, as they have submitted a legal document indicating insolvency.

Annie received training at The Royal Ballet School in the past, and later pursued a career in acting. She showcased her skills in Carousel, which was performed at The National Theatre.

He tied the knot with Annie in 1995 before making it big in broadcasting.

Before pursuing a career in acting, she received formal training at The Royal Ballet School. Later on, she had the opportunity to showcase her talent in Carousel, a theatrical production held at The National Theatre.

However, following a string of different acting gigs, she decided to switch careers and become a certified yoga instructor. Currently, she is employed by Balletboyz - a dance group located in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, which happens to be in close proximity to her residence.

Charlie came into the world in the town of Gloucester during the summer of '62 and grew up in the same area with two older siblings.

He went to the King's School in Gloucester before switching to Wycliffe College, which is a school in Stonehouse where they have both boys and girls and some students stay overnight. After that, he finished his studies at Birmingham Polytechnic, which has since been renamed as Birmingham City University.

Once he finished his education, he landed a job at a nearby radio station in Gloucester. Later, he relocated to London and worked as a presenter for Capital Radio. Later still, he transitioned into a reporter role for LBS and BBC Radio 5 live.

Back in 1995, he kicked off his TV journey with ITN, and then he became a reporter for Five News. Thanks to his great work, he became very popular with the audience and got promoted to the network's top-notch bulletins and discussions that last for thirty minutes.

In 2006, Charlie became a part of the BBC Breakfast team and now shares hosting duties with Naga Munchetty, who is 49. They present the show on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from Salford, Manchester. Despite this, Charlie has decided to live with his family in London instead of relocating to Salford.

He assumed the position following Dan Walker's departure from the program in 2022 to work for Channel 5 News.
