Travers Smith advises Carpetright and its administrators on its sale out of administration | Travers Smith
Travers Smith LLP helped Carpetright, a well-known carpet and flooring retailer, and its administrators with the pre-pack administration sale of its business and some of its assets to CWHP Limited, which is part of the Tapi group.
The deal involves moving Carpetright's business and some of its assets to Tapi, a flooring retailer. This includes 54 stores in the UK. Zelf Hussain, Rachael Wilkinson, and Peter Dickens from PwC are appointed as joint administrators for Carpetright.
The Travers Smith group was headed by Edward Smith, who leads the Restructuring & Insolvency department. The team received assistance from Senior Counsel Kirsty Emery and Associate Melissa Atkinson. Other members of the team included Real Estate Partner Sarah Walker, Technology & Commercial Transactions Partner Ben Chivers, Employment Partner Ailie Murray, and Tax Head Russell Warren.
This is the most recent major reorganization and financial difficulty assignment in the retail and entertainment industry for Travers Smith. In the past, they have helped SSP Group acquire AMT Coffee from its administrators, restructured the casual dining Azzurri Group, supported the administrators of Laura Ashley, and provided advice on various retail and entertainment Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs).
