Rolex Acquires Bucherer
In order to uphold the enduring alliance between the two firms and sustain their mutual past, Rolex has chosen to obtain Bucherer. The timepiece merchant will retain its title and continue conducting business autonomously. Its assimilation into the Rolex conglomerate will occur once the regulatory bodies have authorized the acquisition deal.
Geneva, August 25th, 2023 - After Jörg Bucherer made the decision to sell his company due to the lack of direct heirs, Rolex has made the choice to purchase the watch retailer, which was previously operating as a separate entity. This decision shows that Rolex, based in Geneva, is committed to continuing the success of Bucherer and maintaining the strong partnership that has connected both companies since 1924.
For over nine decades, the two companies have collaborated and made significant contributions to each other's success and expansion. Presently, Rolex is recognized as a top player in the Swiss luxury watch industry. Bucherer has emerged as a globally acclaimed retailer that offers multiple brands, operating stores in various countries including Switzerland, the United States, England, Germany, France, Denmark, and Austria.
Bucherer has over 100 stores around the globe, with 53 carrying Rolex watches and 48 offering Tudor watches. This watch retailer is also an authorized service center for both brands. Their watch workshops are staffed by skilled watchmakers who have undergone rigorous training with the company.
The Rolex company firmly believes that this purchase is the optimal answer not just for its own product lines but also for all affiliated watch and jewelry brands, along with the entire workforce of the Bucherer group.
Bucherer will maintain its brand identity and operate autonomously in its business operations. The merger with the Rolex group will only take effect after receiving the necessary go-ahead from competition regulators.
An Age-Old Bond
Rolex and Bucherer have a significant past together. Bucherer has been an authorized seller of Rolex watches since 1924. Their professional connection, friendly bonds, and mutual admiration have persisted till present times. Interestingly, Jörg Bucherer is the sole active individual who had the privilege to know and collaborate with the esteemed Hans Wilsdorf, the creator of Rolex. As a token of respect, he will maintain his position as the honorary president of the Bucherer group.
Rolex takes immense satisfaction in the accomplishments achieved by both organizations ever since their partnership commenced.
