Death in Paradise viewers are in for a treat on Friday, February 24, as aside from the main show’s final episode, they also have a new spin-off Beyond Paradise to enjoy. In the new BBC series, Kris Marshall returns as DI Humphrey Goodman, which is a role that he hasn’t played since 2017.
When viewers last saw Humphrey, he’d left Saint Marie to return to London after falling in love with Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton). Beyond Paradise sees the couple now living together in Shipton Abbott, Martha’s hometown near the beautiful Devonshire coast.
Aside from his role in Death in Paradise, Kris is known for starring in My Family, Love Actually, The Merchant of Venice, Citizen Khan and A Few Best Men. Meanwhile, viewers will best recognise Sally for her role in Lee Mack's sitcom, Not Going Out.

Ahead of filming the series, Kris said: “I had the best time playing Humphrey out in Guadeloupe and whilst I was delighted that he got his happy ending with Martha, I always wanted to know what happened next. So it’s a joy to be putting his crumpled jacket back on and seeing how life has panned out for him back in the UK. Working with Sally is a dream, and I can’t wait to continue Humphrey and Martha’s story and solve a few seemingly impossible mysteries along the way.”
Meanwhile, co-lead Sally Bretton is known to many for her role as Lucy Adams in BBC sitcom, Not Going Out. On how the new series compares to Death in Paradise, she said: “It’s got the same tone, it’s got that lightness of touch, you've got the crime and the fun elements too. Humphrey was a very popular detective and people care about him. I got asked a lot about what happened and whether they lived happily ever after.”
